Re: BTR vs APC

I am pretty sure a HMMWV is not an APC. Lol.
A burst of HEI-T could kill everyone inside from spall. Depends on the size of the round, level of outside armor, and spall lining. There's a lot more variables than just bang->boom.Hunt3r wrote:For some reason, the BTRs and LAVs can take autocannon fire for extended periods of time.
Doesn't really make sense. A burst of HEI-T into the hull or turret would probably kill everyone inside from spall.
Its only a bit more armored than a humvee, goes on fire after an RPG and.. and ive never lost to one m113 with a techy on Asad Khal.. u know it's coming b4 u even see it, and when u do see it, its such a huge target. Humvee also goes on fire after an RPG hit so the crew can survive, it does 3x less noise, moves 2x faster and its smaller => Safer to go around in a humvee than the "more armored" m113.Jonny wrote:It doesn't "just to emphasize how fail m113 is" at all. Being an APC implies its better armoured than a HMMWV.
Its more like, BMP-3 = M2 Bradley > BTR-80A > LAV-25/LAV-3 = Type 92 > BTR-80 > BTR-60 > BRDM-2 > Stryker > M113 > THEN HMMWV.Nebsif wrote:Nebsif presents:
The APC Food Chain:
BTR-80A --> LAV = Chinese APC? -> BTR 80 -> BTR 60 -> Stryker (Cant even swim lolol) -> M113 -> Humvee (just to emphasize how fail m113 is).
That is usually balanced with numbers, such as more BTRs on Muttrah than LAVs.
That is a very useful chain! Can you state which maps are the vehicle found?Nebsif wrote:Nebsif presents:

I think the spade and exhaust may still work, not sure. The cloth on the BRDM also used to work (2x mags of 5.56 and it would die).Dr.Roy.Mustang wrote:Hummm... By BTR, I mean the Muttrah APC without windows. So doors? Is that it??? They don't seems to shoot door... Does wheel work? Before it did... But now it doesn't. So what are the hot spot?
But then again, the Bradley has 2 TOW missiles per magazine, but the 27A2 can't go through that much prolonged firing now can it? The few rounds can make a difference, it did when I was in the BMP on Jabal, we got taken out by a single LAV-25 just because he started firing a mere second before we did.Hunt3r wrote:The BMP can knock out the Bradley with it's autocannon so fast it won't know what hit it.
EVER? or it takes more rounds?dunem666 wrote:you cant kill a BTR with heat rounds
Just fire off a 10 round burst, wait a bit, then spray into it again until it dies.Drunkenup wrote:But then again, the Bradley has 2 TOW missiles per magazine, but the 27A2 can't go through that much prolonged firing now can it? now 2 btrs vs 2 lavs
that depends it could go either way
