Re: Unbelievable Loading Time -_-

The box has "Netgear" on the top of it and our internet provider is comcast.
This is not a file it is a directory and you are supposed to replace "yournamehere" with your windows user's name. This is why copy-pasting the above reported file not found. Furthermore inside this cache-folder will be (eventually one or even multiple) folders cryptic number combinations as names. There are the actual shader information. Deleting the contents of "cache" is a save procedure and will cause BF2 to reoptimize the shaders... always.DonMendonsa wrote:1. I don't even have a cache file in C:\Users\yournamehere\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache. To be more grounded, I don't have the ACTUAL "cache" file itself.
This is perfectly normal and has been reported, I too have this every time I quit PR and BF2 using the exit button.~ I hear an "error" sound everytime I close the game as if an error window appears. However, nothing does nor does anything appear in the task manager.
I don't want to sound like I am nit-picking but I hope you meant patch 1.41 and not 1.4 (although its obsolete it is still distributed for some reason) - also 1.41 does NOT require a prior intallation of 1.4.I install patches 1.4 and 1.5 from the battlefield blog
I know. I went there and no cache file was in existence. However, I just now checked. One now exists, however, I still haven't been able to play a game for 2 weeks. Can you lead me to the bf2 cleaner? This is not a file it is a directory and you are supposed to replace "yournamehere" with your windows user's name. On a side note: you can also use a program called "BF2Cleaner" to clear the shader cache.
If performing a manual cache cleansing works around your problem everytime we should further look into it.
I know that BF2 tends to stall. Believe me, I'm generally a patient person. I've waited 10 minutes for a BF2 game to start before. When I'm loading a map on PR, it's always on Objects/ 0%.I would also like to note that BF2's loading bar is not fluently moving and will perform skips and holds occasionally but none should take longer than 1min (except for when shaders are optimized, loading time is quite longer at a hold). A total loading time of >5 Minutes is really unbelievable.
When the loading is slow, which operation is being performed (i.e. "loading textures")?
I've disabled everything before. I disabled firewalls, defender, and Anti-V. I've tabbed before and no windows have ever appeared.I also suggest to try and disable your anti-vir software (for testing purposes), maybe the AV program is blocking BF2.
Also have you alt-tabbed to windows during long loading, to see if there are any unexpected windows (firewall message, antivir report, UAC warning)?
It's every map. Doesn't matter which. SP or MP. Also, just a little note. When I have played SP before and we encounter enemies, the enemies are usually looking up and spinning in circles slowly. Some of them are, not all. Thought I'd throw that out there for development purposes. I couldn't imagine any data corruption. As in the last post, I've now tried both methods of installing. And I've redownloaded and installed well over 20 times now since this problem has started. Please try to determain if this problem really is present on the majority of multiplayer maps or maybe just a few. (i.e. make sure to try different maps)
Also try to confirm that the SP version of this map is infact working too.
It is possible that there is some wierd data corruption going on.
Yes. It was 1.41 and I could understand how that would make a big difference. Don't worry about nit-picking... I'm pretty much begging for it because at the current moment, I feel like I'm making the stupidest little mistake. I just don't know what yet.I don't want to sound like I am nit-picking but I hope you meant patch 1.41 and not 1.4 (although its obsolete it is still distributed for some reason) - also 1.41 does NOT require a prior intallation of 1.4.
Just now attempted that. No dice. Tried it with every map. Also: Socket might be on to something. Something else to try: Create a local multiplayer game (not Singleplayer). And see if the maps load fine. (Use maps that previously caused the loading to be slow).
I don't remember where I downloaded mine but basically you can google it and download from a site you trust. I'd probably go with filefront or softpedia.DonMendonsa wrote:I know. I think the bots are not yet perfect and still have problems with path finding that is why they are spinning around. This should be unrelated to your problem. It's every map. Doesn't matter which. I take it those maps load slowly as well...Just now attempted that. No dice. Tried it with every map.
Yup because the next day It didn't load. And you being able to load a map without being hooked up to the internet was just luck.
Does your HDD-LED flicker when loading is slow?
The HDD-LED is a small (usually green or red) lamp on your PC which indicates access to the hard drive. (As opposed to the constantly glowing power-LED).DonMendonsa wrote: Can you specify what this may look like?
Which one would that be?I got my fix so I think I can hold out a little longer.
While you have paid alot of money, alot seems to work ok and although the reseller swears there everything is ok, it just simply is possible that it is not. There can be a wide variety of things that are wrong with a computer and some only manifest at rare instances making it virtually impossible for retailers to give you 100% assurance. Also, new hardware can have defects too. But thats nothing I will try to have you figure out in detail as this is too hard to do in a forum.I guarantee you, theres nothing wrong with my computer.
When you have posted your system specs you wrote:I have ONE graphics card and I assure you theres nothing wrong with it. It's an ATI Radeon HD 5450.
The first line is merely a generic report that there is a graphics card. The second one identifies the graphics card. I do not know where you have copied that information from, but it usually there should only be one graphical device registered, when there is only one card installed. This may indicate that you are having driver issues.ATI display adapter (0x68BE)
