easy manual for smoothing - it's never easy for novice!
1 smooth group - green
2 smooth group - red
3 smooth group - grey
And remove that poly it's not visible and you can remove polys on cylinders i think it's so many IMO
P.s I hope it's not 3ds MAX 2010?

Don't remove polies on the cylinders. Basically the only defining part on this vehicle so keep it looking smooth. Samogon remember that this is a vehicle not a gun, It's going to be noticed way more if you remove those sides on a vehivlr. Progress is looking like it shoukd. Don't think to much about optimizing it yet.

Well I got some screens showing the smoothing groups in color, I don't know how to do the red part, currently it has it's own group but the last face is also in the blue smoothing group.
That still gives me a problem along the bottom of the boat;

I watched some tutorials, showing the basics of smoothing groups, thats pretty much were I got the idea of mixing 2 smoothing groups together, but it didn't seem to fix it here..
I am using 3ds 2010, but I don't understand why that should be bad?

Not sure what to do to.fix your smoothing issues really. But in regards to the 3ddi max issue, the issue is that max 10 man not import models into bf2. So somebody will have to import it into max 9 to.get it.game ready. Not a big deal but an annoyance in the work flow

I think I got 3ds 9 still installed on an older pc, but I'll have to look at that later. For now I started looking at the engine and came to the conclusion that this one is the one:
55-HP | Multi-Fuel Engines | Evinrude.com
It does however show 2 versions in the top right picture, and I'm not sure which one I should make, so I hope someone knows. But I'm starting with the engine it self, and the shaft could be added/edited later..

usage wise i'm not sure.

It has been a while, but I recently picked up this project again. Pretty much finished the low poly boat, still working on some details and a high(er) poly model to create a normal map. The engine however is a different case, I tried modelling it from 2 real pictures but I don't get the right shape so my question is:
Does anyone own an Evinrude E55MRL (55HP)
or E65WDRL/E65WDRY(65HP) and is willing/able to take pictures of it's side, front and top ? The E65 appears to be similar to the E55 yet I'm not 100% sure it is.
Here are the two engines:

I hope someone can help me with this since I don't own one myself and there is no shop anywhere near my place that sells this brand and type..
