I'd like to say that I have learnt something from this thread.

Being especially interested in doing Logistics squads; always ask for support/some kind of protection or if you have enough men, get some to go laong in a vehicle with a machine gun on it

Basically, if we get more APC-L craft, like the IDF M113-L you'll see better logistics options. Personally, I really hope for this kind of thing as Logistics trucks are vulnerable and prone to flipping.

And everything in PR with a mounted gun on it is used as a light tank, so im going to say no to this one.

Why dont you set up a convoy around such an important asset. Give it protection?

I did 3 rounds tonight as a Logistics squad.

Each round, my team trashed the enemy and over ran them.

No escorts ever. Sometimes there just aren't the resources because of the player limit

Don't recall APCs doing transport either.

It's kind of difficult to say "stop being a light battle tank." That was just my experience tonight anyway and we did thrash them which probably means we could have had protection.

all that would do would have people start using it as a gun truck, people already waste them as it is.

Well one could throw into the mix the 'everything can be abused' argument to that statement.

However, I think Logi trucks in their current state (being very vulnerable to everything else) is just about right. They have the right place in the 'food chain'. Giving them top cover may encourage more people to use then, yes. But this does not help the vehicle in any real way perform its function any better and if anything is likely to distract it from its role.

In short. Gameplay over realism, keeping it unarmed works much better from a gameplay standpoint.

in my personal experiance the ADF does not move any of its logistics or transport assets with out organic self defence, on the unimogs they carried steyrs, or had a minimi in the roof hatch ring, the new copperheads have roof hatches that will take minimi's or Mag's.
it's the standard SOP so i dont see why we dont have it.
