In real life the HEAT round would be the choice to use. Whereas the AP round would penetrate both sides of the BTR, the HEAT sends a jet stream of shrapnel inside causing much more damage. The effectiveness of HEAT rounds against modern main battle tanks is not as good as an AP round, but a 50 year old apc with less than one cm of armor would not stand a chance, regardless where you hit it. I cant confirm it, but I suspect a modern IFV such as the Bradley would be penetrated from the front as well, composite or not.
The 7.5 cm wwII AT gun Pak 97/38 using HEAT rounds penetrates about 90 mm at meet angle 90° or about 75 mm at meet angle 60°. Source wikipedia (I know, cant find a better source.). I think the zis3s HEAT round has even better penetration since the HEAT round was developed after ww2 according to 76 mm divisional gun M1942 (ZiS-3) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
