Outside of what has already been said, before this evolves into a suggestion thread that gets consequently shut down for an oft-resuggestion... no, no, no and NO to the AC-130 going into PRBF2, for the same reasons that PR doesn't implement strategic bombers. This. Isn't. Desert. Combat. 2.

We can debate about it being developed for Arma 2 due to increased playing field, but its case doesn't get much stronger there. It's role is too niche, it's something that would need to be developed from the ground up, and more importantly, it would need to be BALANCED with other factions. Besides, there are more important matters the developers need to focus on. Like ensuring the next release of PR is good, for instance.

Heeuuuh ok... How can you compare a B1/2/52/Tu95/etc.... to a dedicated CAS cargo plane ? Having a AC130 on a map where U.S. do not have any armor but only relly on CAS could be interesting in a way. 0.95 seems to push the thing realy far and assymetrical use of an AC130 against a heavily mecanized Russian or ME forces could bring something to the game. If on 1 side you got 1 gunship and only soft-mecanized infantry and on the other you got a large armor division, then you can balance the thing. And honestly even if they arent balanced ( since i dont know any war with a REAL balance, generaly is more something like "hey hey i got 5000 tanks more than ya" ).

Dont get me wrong i'm not suggesting the add of AC130, but i just hate when somone said "BALANCED with other factions". U.S. armed forces are some of the strongest if not the strongest on this planet, China is obviously another BIG player in that game. If United States/China/M.E./NATO/etc.. use a plane, a chopper, a tank, a weapon system no matter what it is and the others dont, well then this is the way the REALITY is, and last time i verify Project Reality was emphasing on realism. There is no balance in wars, only the power of the will greatly aided by the power of the technologie.

I've got your balance - SA-7. It's already ingame even. Balance is not one of the reasonable arguments for keeping the AC-130 out of PR, especially when there are already dedicated air-superiority fighters for nearly faction, and plenty of AA to go around. The real issue is simply map size, and beyond that realistic use. It's not particularly sensible to spend many hours creating an asset that is not often fielded with strictly conventional forces, especially when that time can be spent making an MRAP or up-armored humvee or what have you.

On the topic of balance, would a couple Tunguska's be good enuf?

Yeah, unfortunatly i don't think these things are deployed with conventional forces or battles we have in game right now

Could be interesting in a map with clouds like Kashan. Watch out for the Mig tough :-P

Then add some Tunguska.

I imagine infantry watching the sky and Tunguska too, waiting to see a silhouette then shoot all they got :)

I think it's nice for making movies ;) .

Of course it's awesome in-game, but not really on such small scale maps. ArmA would suit much better I reckon.

I wouldn't mind making a movie with this thing 8-)

Wouldn't it just be overkill like the Javelin?
