You under estimate the 40mm. I have "sniped" on more than one occasion targets at 1000 or 1100 meters. It's even easier if you use the Mk 47 Striker, but I only know one person off the top of my head who has actually operated one.

Its not an under estimation, but the actual reticle only has marks only up to 800meters.

It comes from my head, and my army book that the army gave me. Point target is 1,500 meters (your only going to do that with a tripod that is perfect so good luck). But the leaf sight does go past 800m. Area target is 2,212.

I think you're confusing the turret mounted MK19 on the AAVP7 with the crew-served stand alone MK19 (which won't be in the next release).

Uhh, I don't know what your really talking about.. Just because it's on the AAVP7 doesn't change is range... Also it appears to be on the same system as the ASV and it keeps it on target.

Id need to find a picture of an actual leaf sight for a mk19 mod3. And I can't do that. Also by personal experience I have shot out to 1000 or 1100 meters, that would be just about impossible without a sight going out that far... I didn't mean change the range. If you have a weapons system that is capable of that distance point target, you are sure as hell going to make your sight go out that far.

Could it be that the elevation limit on the turret mounted MK19 prevents it from getting the angle needed to hit 800+ on flat terrain? I'm just guessing.

Problem is its not an optical sight on AAVP, so how it correlates with it?
If you start searching for aavp reticles, the only you will find are those limited to 800m.
If you will find others, as i said, dont hestitate to post.

If you have a weapons system that is capable of that distance point target, you are sure as hell going to make your sight go out that far.

Well, there are 3 ways to do things, right way, wrong way and army way, i wouldn't be surprised really

half way down on 2-3, it lists the AAV's Mk19

40-mm Mk-19
800m (point)
1,250m (area)

That's just the way it is. Effective Point/Area target range is indeed different between the MK19 mounted on the UGWS and the tripod or open mounted version.

It's probably because the leaf sight allows for further adjustment and the one on the UGWS needs to work in tandem with the M2 on a joint reticle.
