Like db was saying, any vehicle position fitted with thermals as standard irl will have them in-game. MEC are fictional and T-72's can be fitted with after-market thermals.
Alright cool, just want to be sure that at least core maps like Kashan are remaining strictly symmetrical.
EDIT: Censored actually, shows other features that aren't disclosed yet.
Changes to the flags on Barracuda? OR A COBRA!?

The thermal imaging is a thing that i dream for sooo long, i know its only a "shader" effect, but actually it does give the vehicle that are equip with a sooooo big advantage... People will care alot more about those vehicle. I have no word to express how i'm glad that somone finaly take the time to make it possible :D

Thermal will bring the armor warfare of this mod to a completely new level. You will still enjoy driving you're APC in the open even after 0.95 release... until a tank/ifv/attack helo just spot you and engage you :D

0.95 seems to be so much win.

I love everything I've seen so far. The new maps, vehicles, thermals, factions, the lot!


Now, if only Sangin would turn up as the cherry on the top :-)

As far as I'm aware, its much more than just a shader effect like night vision was. The textures on vehicles/players etc are made to "glow" in thermal mode, where statics etc are made not to show up as clearly, as such, representing what's hot and what's cold etc like it would in r/l. If it was just a shader effect everything would glow and not just tanks/players.

I dont know anything about modding, the only thing that i'm sure of, is that feature looks awesome and if its depicted correctly it will just be epic :D


Now how about P.R. winning the next MODDB with the 0.95 ? :D

You will be able to see through smoke now? So popping smoke with a tank when you fall back isn't effective anymore I guess...

Pretty much. Smoke is completely invisible on thermals.

Nope it wont work anymore, but what will now work, is, when you are in open ground, lets said on a ins. map, then you pop smoke to hide you're self and use thermal to engage enemy.

You managed to surprise me with this feature, I remember reading a few suggestions concerning thermals and they seemed to be shot down. I guess I see why now.

Coolest feature, even if it doesn't have the biggest impact.
