British Infantry, Iraq, 2004. Possibly more recently.

An interesting article pertaining to bayonets and the US Army.

That indeed is an interesting article... and as such makes me understand even more, as well as the reasons [R-Dev]Chuc and Le.... Whatever that other persons name was, also had posted.

 Again, this is all I wanted. Insight as into why the change was made. It might be a small change, but at the same time, it also is a change that some people actually do use.

To the question of how many bayonet kills i've made:

12.

How many kills i've actually made?

probably about 80. (I didn't play .91 that much, ok?)

Heres to .95 making me obsess over PR again. Cheers! And thank you devs for making such an epic mod.

(So epic, I tell customers at Walmart to buy a copy of BF2 and play this mod. =/)

'[R-DEV wrote:bosco;1462624']MEC gets G3 Bayonets.

US gets bayonets removed.

Obviously SOME PEOPLE (CHUC) are BIASED towards OPFOR here.

hehehe
Damn right, G3 bayonet is awesome.

Also, somebody asking for an explanation of this isn't the same thing as saying booo your work is bad and I don't appreciate it (though that's how a lot of people come off). I'm glad CCCode explained it, and to be honest it doesn't really matter that they're gone, more reason to play opfor!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the USA Army don't use bayonets? I'm sure it was the America's Army game website, however it was a few years ago... I'll see if I can find it...

OK, I was slightly wrong, here's what I found:
Knives

NO! We will never get knives in any version of AA. This is because in the US Army, knives are used as tools, period. And besides, if you knifed someone, they wouldn't die instantly like they do in all other games/movies, they would have enough time to shoot you to death before they die, and if they're lucky enough to get to medic quickly enough, they may not die at all.
And:
Bayonets

No, while soldiers are trained how to use bayonets, they just don't use them in combat anymore.
So they do know how to use them, they just don't.

were you useing that article to support your argurment or mine?
Hertling, for his part, has stood firm. ?What?s interesting,? he says, ?is if bayonet training is that important and it?s the centerpiece of everything we do, why is it the only place it?s taught is at basic training?

?If it?s that important, you?d think all the operational units would have bayonet assault courses.?

The fact is, there are more important things to teach during a time of war, Hertling adds. In a counterinsurgency fight such as Afghanistan, ?You carry an M-4 carbine strapped around your chest,? he says. ?You can?t do much with a bayonet.?
if your arguement was for physiological warfare then sure, keep the bayonets. but while were at it, we should make all the helicopters play Flight of the Valkyries.
