Not meant to go off-topic even more, but ..

CTD's been all over every kind of setup since last patch ..so it's probably not your setup, or atleast not only because your setup this is occurring.

Myself running XP32 and i get CTD's randomly up to about 1 hour of playing, and thats since last patch.
(..Sure I've had cdt's before but very rarely)

Will keep on gaming though and hope a solution is found.

It looks like the problem has been solved for me since the hotfix. No ctds anymore. I had those without any error message before the hotfix, thanks for the good work Im really enjoying the new update now.

Either the hotfix did it for me or deleting the content of my cache. Havent been getting any CTD's in-game.
Only those at the end of the round but then I could confirm that most of the team CTD as well. In addition the server crashed on loading the next map.
I can live with that.

The hotfix is server side only. You dont have to download it as a player its for server admins only.

So you get no error message? You're playing and then it crashes back to desktop? I had this problem. It wasnt my hardware but I heard some people have memory issues how much ram do you have and have you tried to set your textures to medium?

Yes, No error message, no warning, it just closes! I have 4.0GB of installed Ram. And yes I have tried turning down my textures. Even tried them on low with no avail :( !

Has your's stopped since the hotfix?

How would I go about using a different .Exe to start the game?

Is there a tutorial or anything on the forum?

Thanks

Josh

I had it from 0917, but to be honest I cant tell you if that was what my problem solved. I just noticed that the 0917 is 2,25kb and the 0957 2,24kb.
It was most likely the hotfix which fixed my ctds.

Well I played all day yesterday without ANY problems! Had a good hour this morning, but then when i switched to a different server, two CTD's within 10 mins of each other!

Surely somebody can piece something together from the Logs we've posted?

Have had the exact same problem since after .957 release. a, b or c doesnt matter, still messed up.

There is an error message attatched to this, but its only visible if you play in windowed mode.

(To play in windowed mode add "+fullscreen 0" (without the "") to the end of the target line in the .exe properties)

My error message:

---
BF2 Error

Debug assertion failed!

Version: 1.5.3153-802.0 Build date 2009-8-20 17:8
Module: Common
File:

C:\dice\Projects\BF2Brances*...? Does anyone have such a folder? I dont.

This problem is bigger than PR and exists in vBF2 for some as well. I just came across new leads saying it is the internet connection that fucks things up (Wich seems perfectly logical to me since I only get these random CTD on some servers, like NwA) Will look into that and post my results later tonight, or tomorrow.

Good luck, this is a mystery to everyone! No clear solutions seems to be out there. I INTEND TO CHANGE THAT
