Theres no Sound.con only audio.con. And theres no value 64 wich i can change into 62, only this:

AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 0.453003
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureThreshold 0.1
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 0
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1
AudioSettings.setProvider ""
AudioSettings.setSoundQuality "Medium"
AudioSettings.setEffectsVolume 1
AudioSettings.setMusicVolume 0.0537329
AudioSettings.setHelpVoiceVolume 1
AudioSettings.setEnglishOnlyVoices 0
AudioSettings.setEnableEAX 1

Can anyone say if XFI improves sound in pr like it does for bf2.
I used to own one and remember the best thing was it added more surround sound via EAX-HD, not sure if that'd apply to mods though

AudioSettings.setSoundQuality "Medium"
this part should read high. you can just edit that in

yeah i know--i only searched for the mentioned BSOD FIX, but theres none.

Only solution is restart after every game.

I pick up a map which has already started then join, play 1 hour and restart after. I clear favorites and videos so restart only takes 30 secs..

And YES Ultra High XFI improves Sound much more then in Vanilla BF2.

The PR Devs have make great Work works.

I am able for hear clearer and better sound AND can hear footsteps bevore the medium/high Settings guys can.

Hello,
i'm currently having similar issues with my creative x-fi sound card. and for now the only solution is quitting PR and then reconnect.

I don't clear favorites nor something each time, I just rejoin the server i left.
Never had a BSOD since i started this, and this trick isn't such a pain in the *** since i'm able to reconnect before the game start.

But we really need a new driver :(

Hi sorry guys for the late reply.

Look in your Profiles folder for the sound.con file.

rem *** 3D settings ***
Sound.setDopplerFactor 1
Sound.setRolloffFactor 1
Sound.setDistanceFactor 1

rem *** Performance settings ***
Sound.setPitchChangeRate 15

rem Sound.setTemplateLevel UltraHigh

rem *** Generated ***

game.setDisableSound 0
game.setChannels 64
game.setMasterVolume 75
game.setMenuMusicVolume 50
game.setMusicOnOff 1
game.setLocalizedDialog 0
game.setQuality 3
game.setSoundDetail 4
game.setHardware 1
Here's my audio.con file fwiw...
AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureThreshold 0.1
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 0
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1
AudioSettings.setProvider "Creative"
AudioSettings.setSoundQuality "UltraHigh"
AudioSettings.setEffectsVolume 1
AudioSettings.setMusicVolume 0
AudioSettings.setHelpVoiceVolume 0
AudioSettings.setEnglishOnlyVoices 1
AudioSettings.setEnableEAX 1
AudioSettings.setAlwaysAllowSystemOpenAL 1

Also very important is the creative driver version you are using... :)

Cheers..

btw Alchemy also works, but only the latest version, file name is ALMY_PCAPP_BETA_LB_1_43_06
Any earlier version will not work ;)

Are u guys using Xram?

I did find the sound.con in my gamefolder in ...\Battlefield2\Profiles\Local\Default and changed it to:
rem *** 3D settings ***
Sound.setDopplerFactor 1
Sound.setRolloffFactor 1
Sound.setDistanceFactor 1

rem *** Performance settings ***
Sound.setPitchChangeRate 15

rem Sound.setTemplateLevel UltraHigh

game.setHardware 1
Creative is activated and sound is set to ultra high. Played the whole evening without a crash :)

Great to hear..

This is not strictly PR issue it's a a problem with the card (or Creative's shitty drivers).. For some reason when 64 2D/3D EAX channels are enabled it runs out of buffers - causing BSOD.

Restricting buffers (channels) to <62 apparently allows a little breathing room.

Hope this helps!! :)

Do you guys use XRAM at all? I also read that it causes problems..
KEIOS wrote: :( Had a BSoD again. Reduced Channels to 60 and will continue testing.
Next time you get BSOD, can you note the stop code error and post it? Cheers.. :)

I use an Audigy 2, but have 62 channels enabled in sound.con. I also use Alchemy (link in earlier post) from time to time....

Also I'm using Daniel K's modded drivers. I used to get BSOD too, but now I don't.

You could even try setting 32 Channels just to see. Another thing is I have AlwaysAllowSystemOpenAL added to the .con file, this stops software OpenAL from being used...

I also removed the wrap_oal file from system32/wow64 and renamed CT_OAL (native OAL) to OpenAL32 and added it to system32/wow64.

This way if BF2OpenAL decides to use OpenAL32 (generic software device) it can't, it's forced to use the native Creative device instead. (CT_OAL)

I have the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer, using with PAX drivers, getting BSOD with that "page fault in non paged area" thing... Every 2nd round or so. I can play one round and in the middle of the 2nd one there will be a BSOD 100%...

Anything that helps me get away from this is welcomed.

I mean - PR BF2 will stay alive for a few more years, a few more years I am stuck to the damn X-.Fi Card and the BSODs, lol. :-D

Yeah stop 50 is page fault, it sure seems like a buffer/memory use problem.

You still haven't said if XRAM is enabled. Seems to me like restarting the the map clears any cached data, hence why it may help....

I also belong to a well known tech forum, so will ask around there for opinions, and report back... :)

the solution is to not ever buy creative products again. this has been known and around for too long. "hardware - high" setting is NOT 5.1! i also have this problem, xram disabled. BSOD randomly.

i hear the Xonar atleast works.

I FOUND A FIX for my xfi titanium. i can play with xfi mode - ultra high.

theres a trick of making sure bf2 doesn't use the outdated openal that gets installed with the game (BF2OpenAL.DLL)? Copy wrap_oal.dll from the syswow64 folder to the bf2 installation folder & rename it to BF2OpenAL.DLL. ive been playing for a few hours now and not a single bsod.... been searching forever for a solution and finally found one ! YES 5.1!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: im not sure if xram needs to be disabled in registry or not anymore. im sure that this will work for more than just my soundcard. It makes a huge difference sound quality wise.
