Why is Muttrah so popular?

You can basically do anything the game offers, in a well detailed map, with open and closed areas and asymmetrical balance which makes it more interesting. Like the old Qwai which was also perfect.

In 0.95 it`s the only map i can play WITHOUT any lag (besides kashan ofc.) And yes. I need a new computer.

I have only played it in CoOP, but the first time I flew over the break wall and took in the full view..... my jaw dropped. Because the city is more modern, it lacks the claustrophobic feel of some of the other Middle Eastern urban maps I have played; while keeping all of the elements that make fighting in an urban environment "fun" (in a game of'course).

Add to this combined arms, excellent sniper possibilities, map symmetry, and a medieval fort...... win, win.

All the maps that are built using real life reference feels more natural to play. That's what makes Muttrah so attractive. It's just human perception of space and surrounding objects. Real life combat tactics are the ones that apply best to such maps. This is also the reason why US side has a hard time winning map like Korengal - surrounding area is most beneficial for insurgents.

and how is that different from any other map? You need to use the same static over and over again as for starters, there simply isn't enough statics to have every building be unique and if there was, the map would run like **** on even the best PCs. Btw the map has over 400 unique statics in it which includes the vBF2 ME buildings + over 10 new PR ME buildings.

Muttrah is great map. Great infantry map.

idk why people don't like muttrah, I've only played it a few times online and it does seem to work very well. Whether I was a marksman or a medic(the only two roles the SL put me as) I still did quite a lot and got a few kills.
On the whole I quite like muttrah, although there isn't any way of getting the heavy stuff in(tanks ) it's still a very good map, if a little overplayed by servers.

In fact =HOG= 24/7 Muttrah City is the only one server which i play on xD, it doesn't mean that i play ONLY but ONLY on it but mainly. I just love this map and people who are everyday playing on =HOG=.

I like it because we can play with sexy m16's. There are hueys, and the city looks very "natural". Besides that, i find MEC boring too. The G3 does->paf paf paf.

I'm very surprised that the map is still this popular with how much its been over played tbh. I know I've done minor gameplay tweaks along the way but I've not done anything drastic to change the map at any point as I dont want to loose its core gameplay that works so well, although for Muttrah 2.5 I may do some big changes but you will have to wait and see what they are, if I ever get round to doing Muttrah 2.5

I hope there will be a Muttrah Insurgency version.

Why I like Muttrah is that, much unlike the rest of the Middle East maps, it does not overuse the color of ****, instead being shiny white. Whenever it comes up, it's a refreshing break from all the constant green and brown found in most of the other maps.

I'd like to see more modern environments in maps, and with the afore-mentioned lack of brown, Muttrah kind of satisfies this.

I actually find the G3 to have a more sustaining and open sound as opposed to the m16.

On-Topic: Muttrah is a good map, it sure is. It's just overplayed as hell, everytime I see muttrah come along for the second or third time on an evening, a little piece of me dies...

As a Pilot, its because of the Hueys. It really seems like one of the only few maps were people will constantly need you, instead of at the beginning of the round and then FOBS the rest of the game.
