That is true, but are you sure the non dead players can see it though?

They cannot, I've tested it in BF2 and PR with my brother, whose screen I can see 2m away from me when I'm typing, so I confirmed myself that it does not show up for alive people when you type whilst dead.

Thats strange because i remember people talking in vbf2 with *Dead* before their names and in PR this is solely a *

Maybe its a server option to turn it on and off.

When you type something in and it has an astrict by your name that means only dead people can read it. If your alive you never see a chat message with a * (astrict) infront of it. If your dead and you read the chat you will see alot of * infront of peoples names because they are also dead. It's been like this for quite se time now but is a pretty unknown thing.

Wow i've been playing PR for 3 years now and I never knew that, but yea it should be added as a tip on the loading screen.

Because when wounded, you can still type to your team. Not sure if you can type to the enemy though.

Its when COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY DEAD, WHEN YOU CAN'T BE REVIVED that noone can see you type, except those who are WOUNDED or DEAD DEAD themselves.
