What about IR tape and Fireflies, used by the US army. The tape is sewn on uniforms and helmet covers as well as fireflies are part of your deployment issue. IR_Beacon
Also, IR strobes are not 'SF' only lol, as a Infantry fireteam member I held a IR Strobe on me at all times, still on my vest as I write this. And we have used them in field situations to tell where friendly forces were.
However, I know they work in NV devices, but not sure about thermals.

How about one of those 'Sparkler' grenades or w/e they're called. Pretty lame reference but remember from Blackhawk Down where he throws it on the roof to direct the little bird attacks?
Also for the personal IR strobes, maybe they could be activated when hitting the 'CeaseFire' option in the commo rose, and they could last for maybe a minute or something...

Now then, depending on how termals work, couldn't we use the same code to make night vision?

May not be a thermal thing, but Iv'e always wondered why you cant just set down your gltd's aimed at a a stationary target for a more permanent risk free laze.
You can do it IRL right? To keep a laze up on a target that, say, your squad was moving away from or into position to attack after bombardment?
Maybe a SQL deployable that instantly builds and has a super low profile? Don't know,t he idea is very out there I guess, but your thermals suggestion made me think of BF2's laze system as well.

You guys do realize that thermal viewers operate from HEAT and not LIGHT, right?
Things like IR strobes, IR laser beams, etc do not show up on thermal viewers as they do not produce enough additional heat to be distinguished from the object they are illuminating. They are visible by NODs, but not thermal imagers.
So I'm not sure why a topic with a title related to TIS is bringing up comments/questions/suggestions about AN/PEQ, MS-2000's, Phoenix strobes, etc which are all non-compatible with thermal imaging systems.

I think they were focusing more on the in-game process which brought thermals in-game, and how we could apply the effects to other aspects. Sure the real tools may not function together, but couldn't the textures viewed in thermal be used to bring something else to the game?
