guys anyone can get hold of breaching munitions, the only difference between insurgents and coalition forces would be that coalition forces have to use non-frangible variants

I think they may have got the breaching slugs the same way they would have got the weapons in the first place - Skimming off weapons sold by international militaries.

I'm not saying that it is impossible for insurgents / Unconventional factions to obtain ammunition.


What I am saying is that it is more likely for them to purchase buckshot ammunition, as it has more uses, than for them to buy breaching slugs, which costs 8X as much.

2 words. engine limitations. the only reason INS/Tali have breaching shotguns is so they can get into rooms with closed doors. the doors cant be made with different rules per side. if a tali can punch the door and open it then so can the BLUFOR. There are simply too many problems in the way of creating a realistic door in game.

I want to get off the subject of keys/locks/faction specific, and go back to what I have originally said before this was moved onto a different suggestion entirely.


Buckshot can open doors the exact same way breaching slugs can, in PR. I don't see why taliban/unconventional factions should have breaching slugs instead of a cheaper buckshot round.

If they had the regular shotgun shells, they can still get into rooms with closed doors. But it would also give some more versatility in the kit.

3 words. It is possible. There is/was a door that opened and closed to only one faction on an earlier map.

I would argue that it might make that kit to be overpowered, but with the new limited kit system that balances that equation.

Seems like a very rational suggestion, and one that shouldn't take much manpower to change.

IIRC, It's actually one of the warrior kits that have an AK/Breaching Shotgun as the kit. I don't see how this will make the kit op ;P


Unless it's the PPSH. But it wouldn't overpower it.. the same way how rifleman specialist kits aren't overpowered.

really? what map from which version was that? i know for a fact opening and closing doors by itself is possible. the doors in the missile silo on Barracuda are doing it, team locking should be simple then. but i question whether or not that's viable in an urban environment with maybe 20 times as many doors.
