Why don't you start a bootcamp Wicca

, I'm sure it fits you

You could basically set a date/time and meet on a training server with a bunch of new people who are willing to learn. Having a mic there would help though since typing it all out can take a while and possibly slow down the practice. You could also take time to explain mumble ect.
And my own experience with new people without mics is that you can often talk to them a lot, but you can't really tell if they understood you and actually learned something. Like this guy that joined a skirmish and started a squad called Teamwork or something, I joined him and he typed out he was new so I suggested to let me lead the squad so I could teach him some stuff. He made me SL and I tried hard, but he had no mic, and struggled to use the medic kit, with the healing and reviving. I told him many times to hold the mouse button when healing someone but he didn't seem to understand. I guess that was a special case, and I don't know how well his English was..

1. Only 60% Work at a team. The other 40% do Lone Wolf all the time. (Kinda ruined it for me) Today i was new so i was following my squad leader, he gets into an ACP and drives off and leaves me in the middle of nowhere .. maybe its an isolated incident, but i seen a lot of people not working as a team.
If you are looking for team work, Search for a squad with more than 4 guys and make sure the SL has an officer kit (Kinda like an H marker).
2. Very hard to communicate. If you dont have a headset... its rather impossible to communicate which is annoying .. They could add some more speech stuff. Also if your on insurgents then when they request medic or something, the text doesn't appear so you have to kinda learn the language the soldiers speak in.
As Rhino said.
3. I dont understand how spotting works... or is it broke? Or is it just meant to be like that? When im looking at an enemy i press 'Q' and click contact and it doesnt spot them on the radar... The only things it spots on the radar is helicopters and planes. (This is very annoying .. i dont understand why this is like this)
Auto Spotting has been removed now you need to manually spot enemies by looking at their direction and looking at your compass in the bottom center of the screen and see what angle you have there, Also you should give approximate distance from you to your enemy, If you want to report an enemy to the team, Open up you map and you should see some letters in the top of the map map and some numbers in the left side of the map, and there are squares in the map it self, These are called grids, They are like Latitude and Longitude, So you say for example B5 KP 6, The KP is the small square inside the big one, The numbers are like your numpad in the keyboard, So the bottom left KJP is 1 and the upper right is KP 9.
4. Sometimes when your in the middle of nowhere with no transport ... walking is very boring and no one at all on your team will pick you up.. even they drive past you. It gets annoying having to walk.
It never happened to me
5. This maybe just me cause im a n00b but i never know where someone is firing from and by the time i get some idea i get shot. Very annoying for a new player.
Its not because you are a noob, It happens to everyone! Sometimes I die 5 times by the same guy in the same place but I still cant find him.
1 tip is to go and hide in some place, If the cover was covering you from north and west for example, and you were still being shot then the fire is coming from either south or west, If the fire stopped then its coming from either north or west, so the more cover you have, The easier it will be to know where the fire is coming from!
6. No one ever heals me Dunno why...
You should ask your squad medic using VOIP, If the medic was outside of your squad, You can use the team chat and call him by his name, For example me: Rudy_PR can you please heal me!!?? , They should heal you this way, If not, I suggest reporting them to the admin!
7. No one ever does what i thought they would do.. Plan what there gonna do and then do it afterwards.
I didn't understand this.
8. No one ever helps n00bs ... they just are like 'Read the manual' which i have done a lot of times.
Ask nicely, Tell them that you read the manual many times but there still are some unanswered questions, I personally love to help!
also try going to COOP servers, The players there can be more helpful because they don't have to worry about getting killed.
9. Also i dunno why i had the Pilot Kit and got in a chopper and it said 'You cannot Use this seat' i was confused.
If you want to fly, You need to be in a squad and have a pilot kit, However, You can't be in the passenger seat of a chopper with a pilot kit.
PS: PLEASE do not try to fly unless you had some practice in a COOP server first! Jets and Helicopters are extremely valuable assets in this game when in the right hand, but when not, They can cause your team to lose!
10. Some kits i pick up the game yells at me 'YOUR NOT ALLOWED IT DROP IT'
You cannot pick enemy special kits, Like Sniper, Marksman, Grenadier, Medic or HAT etc...
You may pick enemy kits like Rifleman.

7.1 Surround sound headset with a microphone.
If you see me in game im called 'PipinRoach' ..

I was gonna use my old BF2 account i couldn't be-bothered to remember the password. Here is my BF2 account :
pipin Master Sergeant, BF2Stats.net - Battlefield 2 Stats lol.
I also connected PR2 to steam .. so if any of you have done the same.. you can add me

I guess most of you, dont use steam.. I came from a GMOD community thats why i use it all the time.
Oh by the way even know most of you have covered the points 10x i read all of them.. You guys helped me a lot.
and Wicca i understand you concerns but it doesn't bother me if people metaphorically throw a health pack at my face. ..

thanks anyway.
Also im not sure if any of you guys played with me on TG last night.. i recognize your names, if you did you made me love PR. Im never going back to COD or MOH or Bad Company 2 anymore.. i like the slow paced and realistic feel of these games.

Yea... not entirely truth.
Walking = stealthier. That's why there is a lot of walking on AAS maps. APCs and HMMWVs and Hueys are bullet magnets.
BTW we need a "enemy spotted!" button for SL...

Yett, recognizing names is one more thing that you'll soon notice

While there's several thousand people playing PR, there's a much smaller group of regulars that you can see around these forums and, say, the TG forums. So you'll log on to a server and remember some players that you've played with before or that you saw on the forums. Most of all, you'll remember good squad leaders.

OOHH!!! So you were Pipin? You were in my squad on Kokan. I can't remember who the squad leader was, I want to say it was Orpall. Glad to welcome you to the game.
You did good from what I experienced, just always remember to mention that you're new when you join the squad. That way your SL and the other squad members know that you're new and will have more patience with you and try to help out whenever they can.
If I remember right you got kicked for SM or something mid-game and came back on the Taliban side. It happens on TG, but, what I suggest is play some more on the server, and see how much you honestly like the game and TG, and only then think about purchasing supporting member.

Don't worry, ping is much less important in PR than in most other shooters. I also get about 170 usually to TG, but it doesn't really feel much different than Euro servers with <50 ping.

Some very good questions here, now which one of you helpful players giving advice would like to compile (all) the good advice given into a / the FAQ? We would want to avoid specific server recommendations - though i do very often also get a good game on TG.
Also, ask questions to those SL's willing to help, and as a new player - or even an old one. It's great to fill a "selfless" role if you want a chilled out game. I love helping to refill mortar pits with ammo, and then fighting off an assault when it comes, or as i did recently crew a central AA position almost the entire game, after some success its amazing and surprising to see people refilling you with ammo.
When you get a mic, go and read my guide to VOIP, and don't be shy, call out those contacts and directions - remember your bearing in your head whenever you are looking so you have what you are going to say prepared, think about the success of your squad rather than your own position or score and you will enjoy the game ten-fold.

I'm gonna repeat something I said some months ago. I know the devs have many priorities, and I know how hard it must be. But I believe it's very important to at least get a very rudimentary version of the guide up.
The manual, while good, is more of a quick-start guide these days, with how much has changed in PR. While work on the full guide is ongoing, I feel it's of great importance to at least get picture pages up displaying the kits and vehicles with their names. A new player hearing about a "spandrel" won't know if it's a fortification type, a weapon, a vehicle, or whatever. Playing for the first time on a map like Beirut, with new PR factions, it's even harder to tell friend or foe since you don't know what the kits are supposed to look like. And of course it's hard to call out contacts when you don't know the names - not everyone knows what a BRDM looks like.
So what I think would be a great help to new players is a bunch of pics where the infantry kits and vehicles for every faction are displayed together, along with their names. Kinda like these pictures for ArmA2:

Hey Yett71. Some things you need to keep in mind, from my own experience. First you need to play on a good server, good meaning, good admin and teamwork. Uk warfare for example. While in game you need to keep in mind for how long they have been playing the map, maybe one team is getting owned hard, then you should expect lack of teamplay on that team. If not, try to join a VOIP Squad, or a teamwork based squad. You have to have a mic, and speak, people dont bite. Thers alot of Squads that still have their name Teamwork or whatever even when the squadleader has left, wich means the squad is usually dead.
Your main goal of the game should be joining a teamwork squad with a motivated Squadleader, if you do, everything will be fine

im not going to lie when i first started i got a bit confued too but that was a while back ... i think it was .6 or .7 and we didnt have HALF the stuff we do now in game it really takes time to get used too there are some kinks that still need to be worked out before its Perfecto

but stuff like the game yelling at you yea i can see how that is a bit uneasy . . espeicaly after 20 seconds the gun literly kills you. . . some servers arnt as nice to Newbies as others it really takes time to understand all which is going on around you. i would reccomend join a server like CIA Kokan and hookers because its the same map every time and mostly the same people play it every day its good practice for Insergency mode and if you get a good squad it helps learning spawn abilities suchas Rallys and Foward outpost construction . . Pick a server Buy a Mic and say hello
