Not too far out of the question, but the AK-101 is chambered for 5.56 x 45mm. Most mid east potential threat states (and also China) are still using 7.62 x 39mm in their AK variants; not sure if any have even made the 5.45 x 39mm switch on a mass scale, though I know Iraq hadn't. The newest version in 7.62 x 39mm is the AK-103, but most of those states already license-manufacture their own AKMs (in different variation) and ammunition anyway, so there isn't much of a need to purchase them from Russia.

Ok, so AK-101 is plausable. I get it now (oh boy thanks CNN!).
So, I can see a MEC forming, not to hard to imvision that, but how would we end up at war with China?
Maybe we should just rename the Chinese army to the North Korean army...

well look at it this way, to go to china or to north kora we would go through all those other country from iraq to northkora (there is a marine joke of somthing along those lines got it from the book generation kill by evan wright) and so by doing that china declared war because of secret alliance

Hey devs, that's good that you are just realism-izing the current form of BF2, because really like the base idea of it all; it just needs a realistic version of it and it's good to go.
Power to ya when the game comes out!

thanks for all the support dudes.
Blackberet used to be freakin addcted to AA, back when most of us were playing 1942, him and one of the old devs one day just got really angry at an AA update and now BB seems really bitter about it

is ther no fear that nobdy will play a game whith too much relaism? we talk on OPK a lot about the probelm of realism. try a lot of things. and many times our test told us: looks, feels more realistic, but makes no fun.
that was really sad. think same problem have DCR, a good mod, but toor realistic fpr 98% of the community...
i like the british forces hope it will be fun.

The name 'Project Reality' is not solely for the purpose of throwing around a catchy title. Project Reality's team has a group of dedicated individuals, several of whom have backgrounds in armed services. Whose sole task it is to provide researched findings and statistical information to the developers tasked with creating the mod itself. If you are looking for a fact based FPS shooter from the perspective of a Soldier, Project Reality will be there to cater to those needs.
Inspiration for this modification has come from interviews BF2 Developers have participated in, to quote:
"Battlefield is all about fun, action-oriented gameplay. We'll leave the truly realistic experiences to the mod teams who thrive on that type of action." (DICE, source)
"Battlefield will always be first about fun and secondly about realism. Realism implies complexity." (Sean Decker, source)
thing i found strange was, i remember there was a clause in the about section saying, "this is not meant for the common gamer and is geared more to those who absolutely love realism in a game"

well, this is how it goes i think that a game like bf2 has a good arcadeish like feel but have some realistic parts, but now to get more realism (but not making unbarible boring) you try and the best fit of the shoe sorta to get realism but fun, sure PR will try there best and i can't wait but everybody wants a perfect produced right away, they can only do so much. but its up to use to help them with ideas and other things to make it fun but keep the main theme "realistic"

Balance is a concern for anyone attempting to implement realism into any game. It certainly is a concern for us as we move forward. The bottom line is whether the mod is fun... if it isn't fun there really isn't much of a point.

-GABBA
I dunno about an MEC, look at iraq being 'unified' under a democratic government, personally i can see a war with china over taiwan more easily than i can see a war with an entire MEC. lets not forget that insurgents in iraq are targetting everyone who even goes along with the new government or US soldiers being in country. the only thing they can agree about is hating the US and Israel.
I like the North Korean idea, again a very plausible scenario with how their nuclear pragram is going and how we have a commitment to south korea in the event of another attempt at invasion. lets not forget that there was never anything more than a cease fire with north korea, no peace treaty.
ive suggested in another thread (maybe theres more) adding more armies like north korea and israel as well as a UN force or european nations other than Great Britain. the way this mod is looking to expand on bf2 im fairly sure something will come along.
whew okay ^ that novel will be available in stores in a few weeks

A UN force would surely be just European forces with blue hats. And anyway, UN forces don't generally fight open conflicts anymore - the UN relies on NATO for military action (KFOR, SFOR etc).

UN skins would b rather awesome!

I'd rather see individual countrie's rather than the un....but if you wanted to throw eroupe in the action, i guess a mixed eroupean un force would be cool...

well, britain is already in as seperate force. and i know that the british aren't the country most involved in the un but still it would make more sense if they joined any un force possibly created.
