New infantry equipment going to be modeled?
Don't like to see new weapon with old vBF uniform.
Any news about marksman rifle?

All in due time my russian comrade. ;)
The marskman rifle is in the works, but it doesn't share any parts with the other rifles, so was left out this time around. We have people working on it currently though, and in terms of infantry equipment, be patient. We are not giving the chinese their biggest update of all time without doing it properly ;)

OMG the LMG finally has a scope! (It's never had one before...has it?)

Nice work!

[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:What you need to understand is this update isn't just about adding more details to the weapons and brining them up to the specs they are in real life, its also about optimization.

Currently we are using lots of different QBZs, that being a mixture of the vBF2 ones and the PR ones, with the QBZ-95 rifles being the PR ones, using high rez textures etc and the QBB + QBZ-95B both being vBF2 weapons, with there own textures. As such we had basically 3 sets of the same weapon, all using there own unique texture sheets which isn't very good for performance when you can have them all using the same textures and as a result, having to load less textures into the memory and having less draw calls to be fed though your CPU and that your GPU needs to process. Not to mention the new QBB and QBZ-95B textures being much higher rez than the vBF2 textures (but the same rez as the normal QBZ-95 textures where before). There has also been lots of other optimizations done to these weapons which in a few months time I hope to go into more detail about once they have been fully tested and somewhat implemented.

The fact is you don't, which is part of the other optimizations I just mentioned but this increase in detail is about the 1st person weapons, which your holding in your hands and is front of your face the whole entire time so you will easily be able to see the difference in detail very easily.

As such, this update is not only adding more details to the rifles (which you will notice when you are holding the rifles) its also very much about increasing FPS and as such, its about killing two birds with one stone.
I wasn't aware that there were multiple models, that makes perfect sense then. What type of performance boost can we expect, only a couple of FPS?

Also will new animations have to be done or can the current ones be 'ported over' per se.

This alone might have no visible impact at all, but a lot of small fixes like this should make a difference.

Well I guess some animations may need to be tweaked since the iron sights will be different for some weapons. Shouldn't be a huge work fortunately.

Yar most chinese stuff are vBF2, except the rifles and the VN3 which is why theyre so boring to play imo.

well this change alone will have around about an increase of 1fps (which sounds less than it really is since that's quite a significant increase for just one set of weapons), possibly more for some users but as Danke said, this change alone will not fix all our performance problems, as it all comes down to lots of little optimizations to really make a huge difference.

The most significant differences this change alone will make is clients will not have to use up so much of there ram when loading a PLA map, which this change will probably make the difference between some players crashing on map load or not.

Looks good but what about the grenade launcher? GP25 i think it is? will we still need to use the old gun model for that too? Or can the grenade launcher just be attached to the new models?

It's the LG-1 or something like that, and I'm pretty sure they will use the new model for it. The new QBZ-95 model doesn't look all that different as far as shape goes, so they should be able to just slap it on there like they did with the old QBZ-95 model.

Very nice, was hoping to see this.

I can't comment on the texture/detail job until I see the rifles in-game.

wow thats looking REALY nice :) lolol thanks for all the hard work . . yeah the SMG is INFINATLY better now ahaha . . .but still we should make a Kit to incorporate the SMG instead of just the Crewman kit . . . there should be a selectable kit where you can have the SMG

Red, post a source telling us what regular part of the PLA use the SMG apart from vehicle crews and perhaps it will happen...

As always, the lads put their heart in to a project, and the quality shows. Well done :)
