How much is a server around Israel? You found a cheap host?

I think it would be a good idea to have a few 8 Kilometer maps. They should create a vehicle checkpoints with a few vehicles scattered around the map. Jets would feel more realistic instead of taking 2 secs to move around the map. Helicopters would feel more realistic. It wouldn't mess up game play because the flags are still the OBJECTIVE, so the action will be around flags obviously.

bottom line (there needs to be actual vehicle checkpoints with light vehicles and repair stations) THAT WILL MAKE 8KM WORTH THE PLAY.

Assuming you could even get it to work, an 8km^2 map would be ridiculous. Presumably due to the object limits you would have stretches of just nothing as big as some other maps. I mean, some of the 4k maps are pretty bland as it is and feel really empty. I think mappers are starting to get past that a little bit now and push the limits of what a 4k map can be, but still you have to remember an 8k map would be 4 times as big. As I said, that's a lot of nothing, even for 128 players.

My clan is not Israeli, it is British. Battleforce
I am not sure how much the servers cost us, but I will ask the clan leader if you would like to know.
And if I am not wrong, they are provided by Multiplay.
Also, I can guarantee, that you will get the lowest ping on our servers :)

Keep the thread on topic or do not post. First and only warning, that goes for everyone.

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

8x8km maps sounds excellent for vehicle warfare (says the infantry-only hardliner)

How about making a thread discussing bigger maps?

It would be interesting to see peoples view on this subject if it is even possible. I'm not sure we should use this thread to discuss that.

If they ever made such map, I think it would be for dog fighting only... because I really don't see any other way to put use for it...

Or maybe they will introduce a C-130 cargo plane and it would be able to land in flat areas all over the map. (Science fiction of PR)

On a side note, I apologize Jigsaw ;-)

As stated before, looks like it is possible if for the most part is just water (at least from reading a comment when quoting Rhino). The only issue here is that the team would have to double their efforts to present more water vehicles.

Something like they're doing right now for the Dutch Faction:

And ofc, adding more guns (possibly cannons) to find inland enemy troops and even some AA since they would be sitting ducks.

However, none of this is ever going to happen.

As I stated before, DEVs will find this an astronomical effort when their eyes will soon be turned to Arma 2 and I might be talking out of my ***. Perhaps not even 75% of water in a 8km map can solve the performance issues. I'm fairly ignorant about these things.

Would a map that was something like 60% water and the rest island be doable on a scale such as that? Something like barracuda but 4 times larger with harriers (and potentially landing craft with the ability to spawn armor on the beach (hypothetical)).

I guess that would need at the least another class of ship, along with a new class of boat though. :/

I believe that combined arms did have a 8x8 map, but yes, it was a small island and mostly air to air combat.
