'[R-CON wrote:Soppa;1604094']On +64 servers there really should be automatic global mute between mapchanges.
Humor is not bad, but when 5 people are yelling at same time with bad mic, it is just annoying.

Fix your mic, talk one at a time in mumble between mapchange/start-time
.. and we all have fun in there.. maybe :)

Some people are singing in there while others are trying to have conversation, its not a damn X-Factor or Idols >.<
people chatting during the start-up is the ONLY time i hate mumble since people are always yapping over squad leaders trying to organize their squads, plan attacks etc.

lol, 3 pages in and only 1 forum user got what this was about.

This topic is not about the "Current" version of Mumble. It is about the "NEXT" version of mumble.

Good to see the level of education is still at such a high stranded for the time I have been away.

Mumble should get updated on the next patch along with 128 man servers but i doubt we will get any info about it till the "Lonely on a picnic bench Bear", gets up to take a bathroom break.

Oddsodz wrote:Oh, My Mumble is working just fine. But when you are with in the vicinity of most of your team. Then you can hear everybody. I Don't need that. And alas when telling somebody to "shut the hell up I am trying to listen for the OP4" and then don't. What are you going to do? Ask an admin to deal with him? Alt-Tab and mute? Don't help if it's the admin that won't shut up. Or there is no admins about. Like I said before else where. More adming duties for little to no real benefit.

What I am getting it is, Will I Have the same level of control over who have I to hear/listen too with the new mumble as I do right now with "VoIP"?
Noisy teammates are also a pain in real life...

Because if you are asked by and admin "Hello Oddsodz are you there" in mumble and you don't respond, YOU GET KICKED on most servers. Mute is not an option on them servers.

Oh dear. You just don't get it.

Not everybody wants to hear EVERYBODY. It's about choice. Something that Mumble only servers take away. And if my understanding of the next version of Mumble is right. Then all servers will have Mumble. And my ability to mute/avoid unruly greefing/smack talking players that I don't want to hear maybe very much diminished. With the normal BF2 VoIP. It is simple. Kick or leave the squad and make/join a new squad and lock it. Or just mute that player. With Mumble, right now it is a case of,, Stop play>>Alt-Tab>> Find player in Mumble window>>Mute player>>Alt-tab back in to game>>Hope the tit does not reconnect to Mumble server and start all over again. Muting "all" will not help you if a server rules dictate you to be unmuted in mumble.

Then there is the issue of MORE STUFF TO ADMIN. Admins have enough on their plate with out the extra burden of Mumble on top.

I'm sorry, but NO1 has said this will be the case, servers will run mumble if they want, the server operators get the choice on this one.

then don't run mumble on whatever server your admining....

yeah it is simple, you sit there typing to a guy you would be able to talk to irl :)

edit, just set a volume button mate at least, then you can turn it down whenver you want.

If you would prefer a smaller default radius of voice detection just say it, it'll be taken under consideration

The way i see it Oddsodz, is your complaing about mumble being integrated in its current state, in which case it never will be. DEVs have already said mumble in its current state compliments VoIP, its not intended as a replacement.

And/if it ever does get integrated im sure the DEVs will develop it enough before hand to remove common problems found in the current version.

I think you are using normal in game VoIP wrong. For it's just a case of pressing "B" and speaking. Very simple. You should try it some time. Don't need to type at all.

It's not that I hate Mumble. I Have said it before. It's a wonderful tool when used in "Events games" and the "PRT". Anything that has a organised game play setup and Mumble is the the daddy for that.

But for public play it is more of a hindrance than a help.

But this is about the NEXT Version of Mumble (not the current form or the next version of PR it's self). My understanding is that it will be fully integrated into the mod. This means that it should become the DE-FACTO voice communication system for the MOD. No point doing otherwise. And this is why I have asked the question that I have. What sort of control will I have to mute players I don't want to hear? Will it be the same as the current BF2 VoIP system in terms of control? What imprecations are there to muting a player. Will a greffer be able to circumnavigate it? These are the thing I wish to know. And we are 4 pages in and nobody has a real answer.

not if he's not in your squad....

because a team member didn't make this thread, the relevant team members working on the next version of mumble will give info when they are good and ready

in the mean time, take our advice on how to deal with current limitations

Alas, all the above advice will get any player kicked from a Mumble only server. If you don't log into Mumble or respond to somebody on Mumble on a Mumble only server. The rules state that a kick will be coming. So telling me or any player for that matter to just Mute and go on your way is very silly indeed.

But that is beside the point.

I Now have an answer. And the answer is. Nobody knows. Now if only somebody had said that 4 pages ago. I Must really fail at typing and spelling.
