I honestly think the fault is not in the runways, but in the jets themselves. In real life, A jet can EASILY abort a landing if need be. However in PR, the astoundingly slow throttle control (even with full afterburner) keeps this from happening.
I can't wait for the new aircraft dynamics to be implementeed.
