Does FH2 even have kit geometry? I havent played in a while, but I dont seem to be able to remember if there were any differences between soldiers with different kits.
yep, though fh2 uses custom infantrymodels they do have kitgeoms, notice the fieldcap for german assault troops (realistic? I don't know). this is most notable with the desert brits, these guys really have too much customized headgear (as to the extent that walking around with a helmet is almost rare :p ): fieldcaps for engineer and scout classes, arabian LRDG headwear for officers(?!), then of course the awesome hat's for aussies and kiwi's.

@Anderson: I'm affraid this is untrue. vbf2 saw shared kitgeoms(as in pouches, camelbaks etc.) where ony the headgear and colors where different. the original pr brits had custommade kitgeoms (as you can see), there appeared to be only one version for all kits and except for headwear like the boonie, helmet or spec ops bald head, puches and canteens where the same. you might remember the issues other factions had when picking up the slightly larger british kits ;)

as to the discussion: making kitgeoms, except for say, shotguns and antitank weapons, part of the playermodel would make matters graphically pleasing, you'd only seem to pick up weapons, but this would make kit requesting and picking up specialized kits problematic, not to say it would increase the mod's file-size. (and furthermore, does bf2 allow more than two "heavy&light" models?)

in conclusion I think it's fine the way it is.

there was a reason why the kit names where changes, i dont know why, but its highly likely that it has to do with python and the kit request system.

we will look into this for the next-next release, because... yeah you know ;)
