Looks nice, about the apartmets its hard to find any good pics.. so I suggest that you search for: rekkehus, borettslag, boligblokk, bofellesskap, leiligheter. and might just use some english refs that looks similar to those you find :p

Only, two questions.

1) Which 3ds Max can I use? Can I use the 2010?

2) Do I have to texture the model? Really, I don?t know texture models i am noob in this world so.... I can do houses,cars.... but texture...no :D
3ds Max 9 is the program you should use I think. We might find peopels to texture.. but it would be nice if we got some of those guys aswell :p but we need the models aswell so the textures can wait..

I could model a buoy, seems simple, although the map thread was moved, so I don't know what it should look like.

3DsMax9 and you don't need to "texture" a model in the traditional way, but you do need to UV it to a texture palette (ie, the way of texturing statics in BF2) which if you don't do it, you might as well not bother modelling the static as its unlikley anyone else is going to finish off your work: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f189-m ... cture.html

pleym or H.sta, would you mind checking over my latest posts in the static model garage thread, just to make sure it's acceptable or whatever for your use (as it was designed for your level/use, as well as staying somewhat generic to hopefully fit other settings too).

I'm thinking of trying my hand at one of those simple apartment blocks next. It won't be enter-able though.

Both me and Pleym is very busy atm, Pleym has been working overtime to a point were I think he is on the job 24/7. and has finally gotten a bit of vacation... and is now very busy partying down south. I have been busy moving to go to a University and have crappy internet. so crappy that I can't watch the movies in your thread :p

but from what I have seen it looks great and will fit in really well

If you want refs, try searching for Radhus too, Swedish word for that type of house.

Googled it for you!

EDIT: Just saw that you can use google streetview on Vads'o' So I'd suggest you to do that if you want to create buildings for that map :D

Direct link for you! :)

A house that could be really usefull is the "svenskehus"/swedish house... don't know what they are really called but they were constructed in large numbers after the war.

I will see if i can collect some refs, but for now, they are the simple square 2 story houses you see all around Vadso

Edit: for the record they will still be the simple square 2 story houses also after i have collected some refs

Like this? These are called "rintamamiestalo" (crude translation: front man's house, referring to the men that fought in WW2) in Finland which are very similar to what you mentioned and were constructed in large quantities after the war.

Yes it does look similar. but most Norwegian Swedish- houses were simpler, and did not have the special entrance area(although many now have those)

I will search for refs today

Have you modelled this house?

EDIT: just discovered the Swedish- Houses is a local nickname becouse they were built by swedes were I live

Yes I have modelled that house. I'm making a big bunch of statics for PR, mainly nordic rural and semirural buildings. That building doesn't have much detail on it yet but will have in the future.

btw:
Swedish Houses

In autumn 1940, Finland received 2 000 packages of wooden single-family houses as return of a civil collection from Sweden. The houses were designed in Finland, but the drawings were made in Sweden by local standards. The Swedish Houses were of four types, two in for countryside and two for cities. Houses were erected in different parts of Finland, in 75 municipalities. The Houses are still well preserved in various locations, for example in at the Ruotsintie-road in Syv'a'kangas, Kemi.

let me correct myself again... the house is NOT called Swedish Houses in the area I live NOW... so it's the other way around. Asked my landlord to find out it wasn't called a swedish house here, but knew it was called swedish house at home...

Allright... Ill just shut up and find the refs...

Looks really interesting and I would love to create something for you guys. I am still a bit of a beginner I'm afraid. If you want I'll try and make some stuff for you guys, but I have no clue on how to get the best "performance" and stuff like that from an object. I also have pretty much no idea about those UV textures someone was talking about.

edit-
oh, and I'm using 3ds max 2011.. I don't know if thats a problem or not? Isnt it backwards compatible?
And I'm reading some of the tutorials posted here ;)

Sounds great as long as you don't make this one ;) .

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f388-p ... e-wip.html

I was a total newbie to it and I have a full time job... total time (not including holidays and big RL life issues) was probably 1.5-2 months, including learning each step & implementing it.
