if im not mistaken, the PRT forum uses something like this for their complaints thread, its quite nice TBH
There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

Alternatively..

It takes about a minute or so to send a PM to whoever's thread you locked, giving a reason why the suggestion has been denied?

I disagree, there can always be tweaks to the system and with new people joining the community why not let there voices be heard with their suggestions. Saying everything good has been suggested is saying that PR is perfect which we all know it will never be perfect.

example, one of my suggestions that was locked and never heard from again

That is why Dune said Just about everything, meaning there are good ideas, just not a large basket full.

I think you misunderstand ankyle...

the current system is to streamline suggestions to help us avoid wasting time with stupid threads

we do still read them...if a new member, or old member makes a good suggestion then we read and approve it!

I do not read ANYWHERE that we claim PR is perfect, nor that everything has been suggested, almost everything BF2 can do has been, but the stupid thread rate is very high...

If we thought that we would have fully locked down the suggestions forum...

The fact of the matter is that most things have been suggested now, not everything, most things.

I think this thread has served it's purpose. DTACs produced a sound and valid point, and as mentioned, has been looked at a few times with a view to improving it. Unfortunately the sheer volume of suggestions (98% of which are re-suggestions) denotes that the team don't spend a sizable amount of time, as volunteers, PMing people, or replying. You'll find that the suggestions with potential and merit are usually discussed in-house before the particular thread is even approved by Mods. Nice post, DTACs.

The simple fact is that if 100% of the threads were posted without any vetting, then there will always be a vocal amount of people who discuss the merits or that it's a 'cool idea' without giving any thought, and frankly not understanding how the engine works at all. To expect the Mod and Dev team to reply wastes their time that could be better spent working ON PR, and yours too, which would arguably be better spent not arguing or bigging up ideas that can't even get off the starting blocks. The shear demand on the team for x, y and z was one of the reasons ComFacs came about.

@ankyle62 - LOD locs etc are staging points that are up to the local commander to make a call on. Not mappers or graphical artists.

@all - This is not a soapbox to complain about the Moderation Team, nor is it a place for frankly grossly offensive comparisons.

@DTACs - We may well discuss a dedicated member to look at suggestions. Something I've seen here also is that we may be wanting to look at an automated reply system explaining in no uncertain terms, the points above in how suggestions are moderated.
