It's not a good source, a better source would be just recording your own professionally, or using misc sound libraries.

Anders do you have a list of servers you tested this mod on? I only play on NwA and 128 so if it works on them that'd be awesome and I'm definitly gonna download them!

I did what the readme file said and now the game doesn't work. I moved and replaced the files as instructed and when loading the map the game CTDs at 47 percent while loading collision. I looked at the readme instructions again and noticed that it says ===|Installation|===

For easy understanding:

- Move and replace "soldiers_client.zip", "weapons_client.zip" and "vehicles_client.zip" to \Battlefield 2\mods\pr\objects
- Move and replace "common_client.zip" into you main BF2 folder.

So I replaced common client into the MAIN BF2 folder and now the game doesn't work. Also I did make copies of the original files which i accidentally used already to fix the map loading issue. Soooo lol I go to system restore and it keeps restoring the BF2 files that are from your file even if I restore to a date from a week ago. I uninstalled PR reinstalled it didn't work. I uninstalled BF2 and went to reinstall it and found that my CD drive is stuck for some reason and wont open. So now I want to go out gomer pile style. Please make a youtube video showing installation. I have used mods before and worked with files like this plenty of times without probs till this. I essentially need to get a new CD drive to fix this prob now. For those that got this to work cheers and good for you. I screwed up my game royaly. :-(

Anders, what is the best way to record gun sounds? I might be able to go out to the desert this weekend and record some 9mm pistol sounds. I also have a 30-06 bolt action rifle, too.

please do tell, if its something that can fit in a backpack or tac vest pouch id be more then happy to record some C7, C9 and C6 gunfire when im on the range next month. All i have right now is a camera that shoots 8 mega pixels, perhaps a audio only device, any recommendations?

Im sry, I dont know whats going on.... Only changed the sounds... Shouldnt crash, doesnt crash for me, but it crashes if you change some other files than sounds... This rlly isnt meant for modding (replacing original sounds). It works for some, and others got problems.
If this game would allow modding, as CSS, Arma2 etc. it wouldnt have these problems.

Hey mate. Well, a stereo mic setup is the best. I only have recorded with a Zoom H4N recorder in 2 channel mode at various distances and with various volumes set.

The most ultimate thing to record withought fucking up a sound like a shot-sound would be:
  • One mic to record stereo close to the gun, with low rec-volume.
  • One mic to record close to gun, aiming away from the gun at higher volume to record the echoes/reverb.
  • One mic 50 m away to get that "thump" of the shot..
  • And mix these all together. And thats acually possible with my Zoom H4N, just need more mics. You can record 4channels at the same time.
But I suspect you dont have this kind of equipment right? But I'm glad you're taking the initiative. :)

Although if you know someone who owns a Zoom stereo recorder, ask that dude to borrow. :) its alot of experiment when youre recording stuff. Its almost like going out and paint a picture over and over again. And when recording people who shoot (either military/private) you're always set at a limited amount of time. So thats why you often dont get what you want.

But not many are as dainty as i am... :)

Yeah the Zoom H4N as I said above is the right thing to have with you. I could go out in the nature and record everything at super quality (with right settings). Thunder, rain, environmentsounds, footsteps, vehicles, you name it. All with a pocket recorder in stereo mode.
ofcourse also recording live band is great. Im also using it as a singing mic, as Im into music aswell. When playing PR im talking through it. :)
It costs around ~280US$.

Thx for your will to help guys. You're the best! :)

Can't you just drag it there?

I've got both the screens open with winrar yeah? so i drag the materials folder form your common client to the original one, it does some sh*t, then it gives a small menu about parameters and such, i click okay and it says acces denied

I have been using it for quite some time now.. all i can say.. STUNNING.

Definitely improves gameplay and immersion by ALLOT. Being shot at now actually means that you need to get to cover.. by adding whips and zips and stuff.. simply amazing work!

Also enjoyed your SOA for ArmA 2.

Haha, you can always try mate! :) Although you need to get that bass in the recording, as well as the high pitch parts. But try it! Nothing to loose. :)

Damn it man... Strange it works for others... And my self. I dont know what to say. Just try ONLY replacing the sounds manually. Dont replace by archives and folders! Try that...

Ok guys and DEVS...
I've made great progress today, with my own unique weaponsounds... Its getting along... Soon Ill have every weaponsound done to send for future implementaion in original mod. Very satisfied even if they just come from recordings, videos and soundarchives... :) Stay tuned.
