heres my surgestion for SF kit:

1. have it only avalible against insurgents because with a lack of a frontline they have to patrol streets like in video , and fighting people like china or MEC would have a more active SF role so remove kit from them lvls.

2. mabye have a "indigenous" squad , when in that squad u request a "indigenous" kit and have an AK and look like iraq and the SL is a SF guy , like IRL. and by being a "indigenous" soldier u have some sort of intel advantage over US/brit forces

also Bobert08 , there are no frontlines in iraq , MP's will be protecting convoys and instilations that are daily attacked and r not going to sit there and take it

Ok, I haven't read each and every post on this subject, but here goes:

I'm just brainstorming here.

Either the SF kit should be trashed completely, or even better (but maybe not possible and probably time consuming) it should be a "squad" kit.

Let's say the SL takes a SF Officer kit, then the team members can take SF kits. Only one SF Officer kit. But then we would need a SF rifleman, SF medic, SF SAW gunner... more...?

No crewmen or pilots in squad, catch a ride guys!

No body armor, bigger load-outs (more ammo), more..!?

Spec Ops! Hooh! Yeah! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

The Spec Ops kit in its current state is completely worthless:

-NO body armour, none, zip, zero. The other kits get heavy armour. For this reason alone it is not good in CQB which is where body armour really shines. Granted, this gives the spec ops longer sprint - but what is the use? The sprint on the other classes is more than enough and if it is not, it is because you should be using a vehicle and not attempting to cross the whole battlefield on foot (like far too many players do!) The lack of body armour is really bad, but wait, it gets worse!

-Weak weapon. Sure, it has a high rate of fire and red-dot scope, but so what? Most assault rifles have automatic mode too (including the M16 in upcoming versions AFAIK) and in 0.6 you can fire very accurately at short range without scoping in. Of course, the spec ops M4's benefits come at the cost of low accuracy and no zoom

-NO grenades - the most important piece of equipment in CQB

-SLAMS are useless. There is no point in using them against rally points since the knife takes these out in two hits. They are of no use against armour and it takes both of them to take out a light vehicle or commander assets whereas the engineer's single C4 deals with these just fine

Moreover, as others have already pointed out, it makes absolutely no sense to have extremely expensive, limited number special forces fighting alongside regular troops. This must be avoided at all costs, and therefore the spec ops must beyond a shadow of doubt be a limited kit (which only makes sense, anyway - you do not need the whole team conducting sabotage).

Currently, having the spec ops in the game only hurts gameplay since the clueless 'me first' types pick it instead of actually contributing to the squad with useful underused class like the medic or support. Until the spec ops actually becomes a useful saboteur it should therefore be removed from the mod.

The only reasons I can think of for not immediately scrapping the class are these:

-Geared for sabotage and stealth, a fun gameplay aspect and another way to play

-A shame not making use of all the artwork, including the player model itself, M4 and expertly modelled SLAMS

-Assuming the guide's info here: http://guide.realitymod.com/index.php?t ... Body_Armor is how it is because of engine limitations it might be necessary to have a standard kit without body armour or for example snipers will be forced to wear armour

The DEVs have ruled out parachutes which was my only idea on how to save the class and I think I have made a case for not making it a CQB kit. The spec ops class is in a crisis.

Umm, I don't know what you are talking about. The M16 will not have full-auto capability in future versions. I'm just posting so other people won't be misled.

The M16A3 is the only version of the M16 family which used full-auto. The M16A4 will NOT have full-auto fire.
Typically fully automatic rifles are issued to special forces only, who need it for CQB.

M16 and M16A1 are both full auto.

But you're quite right, there will be no full auto M16s for Americans in PR.

If we do decide to adopt new versions of the M16 and M4 both may well have full automatic rather than the three round burst. With the XM8 and other weapons we tested having full auto it seems the military has recognized that the three round burst mode is no longer necessary today. I believe our next rifles and carbines will not be variants of the M16 however.

No.... Army, Marines and Air Force use 3 round burst. Special Forces use fully automatic rifles/carbines because they often can't rely on artillery/bombs to suppress the enemy at range; so they have to get close.

Please quote your source stating that the US military is switching to fully automatic fire and M4's. BTW, the XM8 was cancelled months ago because apparently it either 'wasn't fair' or it was 'craprapula'. Bob can correct me if he wishes.

You seem to have misunderstood me.

I never said the military was going to adopt the XM8 or get new versions of the M16 and M4. I just said that if they were to get upgraded M16s and M4s they may get them with full auto instead of the three round burst mode. The XM8 and other weapons the military tested show that they may be planning to switch back to full auto with our next rifles and carbines.

what about a scout kit, give it extra sprint a SOFLAM and a Carbine as well as several different colored smoke grenades?

god, take it out. im tired of people picking it, being in squad and not doing a god damn thing to help the squad.

maybe give it to the SL, just to keep it in, because it IS nice to have some more full auto fire support, but hell, im just tired of half my squad being an m4 noob who doesnt stick with the squad, and when he DOES, he dies in one shot due to no body armor and how he had nothing that REALLY contiributes to the squads effectiveness.... jesus...
