too many varying color areas, a Topographical map should tell you where there are patches of trees, it should tell you this area has trees and grass in it. so OGT would be pretty much entirely green instead of having bits of white where there's grass but no trees. green shows vegetation, which last time i checked included grass.

awesome maps so far though, will these eventually become standard for PR? wanna add polar shift? :D fun stuff... the longer a map remains a part of PR the further off the compass will be! would make it interesting so no one ever gets a 100% advantage on older maps over new guys. <--lol no, jk

This is what I was looking for.
Punkbuster does not allow custom maps/minimaps in 0.95? Can someone confirm that one, please... cos it would be sooooo cool if you could change the map any way you want to.
Let people use whatever map they want, and soon we would have dozens of custom maps. Competition would increase the quality of maps.

If custom maps would be allowed, prior to any major battle different units could get different maps. Mortars could have maps with their position, target list with azimuth and elevation. HMG and TOW placements for defensive positions could be predetermined and everybody can see it on the map if a squad is not where it's supposed to be, or if they're building stuff in a bad spot.

The only thing missing is map being refreshed while in game, and a custom url as a map path. :D

i know this is an old thread but i was wondering if anyone was still working on this and if it is even possible because it would really add to the games overall authenticity.

Well since someone bumped the thread, yes it is possible, but server owners can set up PB to kick anyone trying to use custom files

well since smeone necroed this thread ill reply to Broseph. it could be used in PRT and WC as you'd excpect no cheaters there and would disable PB. :)

Well you don't have to disable PB, it's up to the server owner since I use custom files on various PR servers all the time without issue

Really like this idea, and would vote for it if the poll was still open. What would be really nice for me is if it used the colours and symbols of the OS maps I'm so fond of :P

If so, do these maps still exist and how would I get them?
I was wondering because the links are reporting the error "not founded page".
If possible I wanted to understand how it was possible to do these maps.

It's a thread from 2007, it would be a miracle if hosted files were still up.

If you want to do it, there's tutorials such as this:

It's a good idea...but Atleast if we're ever going to implement this into the main game... Give us an option to switch between them, and make them more...accurate or what not...Squad has a good map mechanic... (Well at least last I checked not sure about now.) or we can do one similar to Arma 3's
