You can remove knife.
1) You should leave it for spec ops/sniper (remove color smoke grenades)
2) For engineer you could remove shotgun (never seen anybody using it on this map)
3) Release the patch with binoculars as soon as possible
You won't have the new suppression effect because the night vision uses different shaders.
Weird. I have suppression effect with and without NVG

I haven't updated anything yet (there are 8 people on the server at the moment). Question: can someone with a non-updated server.zip join, if the server's server.zip is updated? Or the other way around?
Important: I don't fancy doing away the knife at all by the way. Darkness is the ultimate thing to sneak up on your enemy and knife 'em!
For now let's just focus on the map itself, instead of changing kits.......... (that is something we should let the developers decide on)

Officer - Remove Green Smoke for Knife
Spec Ops - Remove Smoke for Knife
Engineer - Removed Shotgun for Knife
Now everyone have knife and bino and NVG
in my opinion i think the binoc/soflam are very important for people to play for "real"
and not just "fool" around thats being done atm.
but your call guys, i will delete it if you guys dont want it, just wanted to help thats all

Was discussing with Bloodace about binoculars, and I think that you should not add binoculars (only SOFLAM for squad leaders and spec ops). If u add binoculars it wont be really different than regular kashan (except everything being greenish). Without binoculars you would have to count on intelligence and reconnaissance. Cooperation between squads and CO would be much more important.

to be honest that would actually be better!

etc. and that just suck

Is it possible to change kits without changing the kits in objects_server.zip?

Hear Hear! don't worry about binocs for other kits, & just leave the knife alone, and every thing will be schweeeeeeeet as a nut..

sorry guys, but 3 hours of work, over 40 crashes and i still cant do the SOFLAM for the spec ops and SL, somehow that was very hard.
i can do it but not without that you dont effect PR for other maps.
and afterdune, ... nope that is not possible

That's what I thought

. Then the developers should decide what to do with the kit-layout.

the officers dont need colour grenades on a night map, any smoke just turns black! so maybe give em like 1 more normal smoke grenade(grey) and give em SOFLAM! For spec ops, maybe take away the grappling hook??

That really depends on what map it is. Different kits are:
engineer
engineer_nvg
engineer_para
engineer_para_nvg
engineer_mntn
engineer_mntn_nvg

There are various types of the engineer kit, and it depends on map which type of engineer occurs.
So could we do same think with spec ops kit on Kashan night - create new spec ops kit (and SL) kit occurring only at this map?

the problem is:
NVG is on index 7 atm
SIMRAD in on 9
but simrad we cant change to not effect other map on PR
grappling and mine is on index 9
if we remove mine and grappling we can have NVG on 9 and simrad 7
but no grappling and mine isnt very good is it?
anyone here know how to "clone" simrad so we can make a simrad just for the map and wont effect PR?
make the clone simrad index 5 so it rewrites the smokes for spec ops and officers
and the original is still the same so you can still play whatever you want...

the question is... did ALL soldiers ever have NVG? no, they did not!
tanks must have NVG - but normal troops... do you think it's possible to just add the NVG to the squad leader's "soflam"?
and FULL MOON would make the desert quite bright - it should be that bright to be able to see movement just with the binoculuars - is it possible to add randomized stars?
tanks: night vision
squad-leader: soflam with nightvision
rest: no night vision
