Jeez, so many pages went by before I discovered this thread, as a Korean myself, I feel embaressed.
I think we should concentrate on the South Korean forces as well. The ROKA, ROKMC, with the ROKAF.

Actually, I'm gonna make a BluFor proposal for the ROK and design the faction myself.

'[R-DEV wrote:AfterDune;1171162']There are many Community Factions in the making. Most of these factions are BLUFOR. Because of all these great BLUFOR factions, the PR Team would like to shift the focus of the Community (Factions) towards OPFOR.

This means, that for now, we will not accept requests for the creation of subforums for BLUFOR factions. OPFOR factions can still apply.

Thank you.
You might want to reconsider that proposal.

We should allow ROK, but the DRK Armed Forces shouldn't be very difficult to make. Just reskin some Kalashnikovs and add a few new weapons. While we prepare ROK, we can make all DRK maps vs USA, perhaps USA invading as the scenario.

Pardon the necromancy, but I couldn't let this get lost in archives. After reading through the whole topic for the first time in ages, I think I may have some ideas that could seriously keep the idea for the KPA alive if only we could get a modder. But basically, my idea is that they should be a totally conventional army, with all the assets most conventional factions in PR have, but for the most part just have less modern and effective stuff in most categories as they do IRL. My idea for assets would be this:

-Type 98 rifle w/scope (IIRC AK-74M with indigenous scope)
-Type 88 rifle (reskinned AK-74)
-AKM rifle
-TT-33 pistol, because I think you may be able to borrow it from other mods. Failing that just make a CZ-75
-Zastava M-76 rifle if permission is obtained from OPK. Failing that, trusty SVD.
-RPK Machine-Gun, already in-game thank goodness.
-NSV Machine-Gun, as heavy-MG like .50 cal
-RPG-7

Officers and Rifleman Optic should be the only ones with the scoped Type 98. Most other rifle kits should have ironsight Type 88 or AKM. I was thinking that perhaps rifleman-AT RPG-7 would be ironsight, but the tandem-warhead version for HAT get scopes. And I now agree with other posters on this topic that there should be no KPA sniper kit, just more marksmen available.

In regards to vehicles I think we're already settled, modified T-62s for tanks and BTR-60s, BRDM-2s, and VTTs (AKA M-1973). BTW, thank you 162eRI for the excellent pictures!

And the usual message by AfterDune is imminent (basically he'll say that this comfac wont happen and that you shift your focus to other comfacs)

Well it's more of a feeble attempt to gain awareness considering I can't really focus on it due to lack of modding skills.

Oh, wow, talk about a massive anti-faction-proposal campaign AfterDune is going on. And I'm next despite this not even being my idea! I gotta get outta here! SAVE MEEE!!!

Not sure what way you mean this, internet lacks a lot compared to a real conversation...

I'm not on an anti faction proposal campaign at all. I'm being realistic. We have about eleven community factions in the making. Eleven! It's best to focus our community talent on those factions, instead of creating new ones.

So indeed, I don't see this happening. Shift focus to the ones that have a subforum is my advise.

Way to not let me wildly over-exaggerate things...

But in regards to the Community Factions, aren't Israel and Canada pretty much officially complete? Which leaves us only nine more! Yay, that much closer to my pipe-dream of a NK faction...

actually there are 13 subforums which gives us 11 after 0.9 is out
add to that that released comfacs still have stuff left to do

Yup, I guess that's my cue to start hovering around the PSC subforum then... :(

Really? I thought Germans were the closest besides Israel and Canada. Then the Dutch and Aussies.

I dont know the Status of the Germans.
Aussies haven't been as active lately since Tonnie's been busy.
And I dont know about the Dutch.

But the PSC Are very damn close.

If anything, I'd agree that the Dutch and Germans are ahead. But they have little things they can take care of. Aussies and PSC need some help here and there I THINK

I'd love to give this mod some traction. We have added plenty of Middle Eastern OPFOR forces, but the KPA is a viable threat to US forces.

Also, I wouldn't think of it too hard to add some camo and weapons. Most of their equipment is old Kalashnikovs (Chinese AKMs mostly and local products). We don't need to worry about heavy vehicles like armor and aircraft now...

That soldier ain't for sure a north korean soldier. The Norks have a home-made version of the Kalashnikov rifles and the guy on the picture has an assault rifle/carbine that looks based on the AR-15 series. The Magazine looks like a STANAG anyway so it's not an AK as the soldiers of the DPRK would be using.
