I currently play at medium settings although I am slowly upgrading my computer (which must be like 5 years old now :-P ) so that I will be able to play on high settings.

Things that are most likely letting me down at the moment is the Intel Core 2 Duo & 2GB RAM. (Horrible I know :smile :)

All high, since I got my new PC with 8gb ram, gtx 550i 3gb, i5 quad core etc. I can run it on high with fraps on with no problem. And since I play on my 26" tv with hdmi I also use a bigger resolution.

Effects : high

Texture : medium

Terrain Low
Textrues High
Effects High
Geometry High
Lighting Low
Dynamic Light Off
Dynamic Shadows Off
AA 8x
Filter High

Low Terrain means less grass, easier to see enemies.
Low Lighting, No Dynamic Light or Shawdows means no shadows, much easier to spot enemies.

Not a fan of having to do this, but if as this pole shows, 75% of people are playing on low, so I want the same "advantages" they have.

All high 1080 resolution AAAAND i'm running on vista 8-)

I sure feel bad for those who have to play on low, before i upgraded my comp the only way I could tell of something was enemy past a certain distance of like 200 meters was if i stared long enough until I saw a pixel move :D

After I upgraded my comp I spent a few months playing it without even pushing its capability because I didn't want to find out that I couldn't play any higher then what i was running it at (weird I know)

Just switched to low graphics to see how it ran which was alot smoother, although I will most likely try the medium graphics settings again.

actually the poll shows just under 13% playing on low. and if most or even some did for your so called "advantage" I pity you for playing the game in such a way. quite frankly I look at that as a legal way to hack or cheat.

but, to each their own, cheats will always find a way to cheat. not saying all those running on low settings think like you, they simply haven't the system to run the game any other way.

I don't want to call you a "blatant cheat" but you did admit to using low settings to have "advantages".

To be honest, BF2 is extremely gorgeous for being a 2005 game. I am playing on everything maxed out.

Little tip:

Activate anisotropic filtering x16 (nvidia, amd control panel) to boost BF2\PR texture quality significantly!

Unfortunately that would probably result in a lot more people crashing due to memory constraints :(

Yeah. Peoples system specs may be better, but the engine still has that memory limitation.

+1 works with AMD cards too, makes terrain textures look much more detailed and crisp.
