I would like to see that on everything: knives, pistols...etc. Like how ArmaII has those zoom button.
x2 zoom on toggle would really make scopes less OP(since 1.0 has buis for scoped rifles anyway, thus making ironsight kits mostly obsolete) at pixel range and make game one step closer to ArmaII(in a good way).

I play on a 25' or something monitor at 1980x1024...
Still suggest some sort of zoom because pixel game is still there with unzoomed optics; and I have taken out multiple enemies(landed on a mountain by chopper, while I was on another mountain at least 400m away) with zoomed(was impossible to even see without zoom) TAR-21 at around maximum VD before. I am pretty sure they were wanting to drop down into city so they all picked ironsight kit and cannot fire back since they cannot even spot me. If you are good at shooting or just lucky like I was, scoped kits are OP at long range.

Then the scoped weapon would ahve to have normal BUIS, "focused" BUIS and the scope...
Microwaife wrote:You mean in the same way as the russian PKM has it atm?
Really good idea. You could implement this like a backup sights and it wouldn't be that unrealistic.. but there shouldn't be a blurry effect around the sight.
Other games do it the same way, f.e. Red Orchestra 2.
PKM has no model for the scope, thats the reason.

And the AK type side mount allow for the shooter to bot aim with the optical sight installed and the standart iron sights.

First photo seems to be from administrator FW200(from Netherlands) of Red Alliance, which is a reenacting/airsoft forum. Not to mention they are VDV(only fits in very few maps in PR).
Heavy Death wrote:Then the scoped weapon would ahve to have normal BUIS, "focused" BUIS and the scope...
Or it could only have "focused"BUIS and normal scope, to differentiate it from ironsighted kits and not absolutely superior kits(which would make ironsight kits pointless).

I think the Militia is in a serious disavantage, they are on the AAS maps and so they have to capture flags etc... not just hid like the Insurgency mode, and they have to do it against thermals sights with easily spot them in the woods, and they cant engage armored units at long ranges, so one or two more kit with a scope won't be a bad one, like an ak-74 scoped or/and a sks with pu sight. And some say that the Militia should ambush............ Well Blufor can ambush too and in long range with armored thermal support...

Militia always has the initiative on their AAS maps (Safe for Ochamchira, but even then the Militia control the entire forest basically), and Blufor has to push towards flags already under Militia control. As such Militia can setup an ambush at their own discretion but if Blufor wanted to they would have to somehow induce a Militia advance into a very specific kill zone. The nature of Militia maps allows infantry to basically circumvent any strong points.
You guys still do not understand how the Militia faction is balanced by the map and not the kits, your refusal to acknowledge this is quite old and past it's expiration date. Most of the points brought up are rehashing this debate from 1 or 2 years ago.

It is AAS, not attack vs. defend. You cannot camp for ambush to recapture a point when there are people already defending the point.
Depending solely on ambush to win is also bad. Real life experience should tell most people who are concerned that ambushes usually encounter...nothing at all. And even ones that encounter enemy do not always go well. If you want to set up ambush at obvious choke point, do you expect enemy to really walk into killzone like idiots?
And when Militia gets into INS maps, there is still mostly woodland unless cache spawns in good places. Hoping to win based on something decided randomly is not so good for a game.
Militia WAS balanced by map until BluFor vehicle got thermals and everyone figured out that lone vehicle charging into city was not a good idea. Notice how Militia kept getting nerfed(scope taken away...etc.) and BluFor kept getting buffed(thermals, soon to be back up sights...etc.).
Militia maps all feature lots of woodland, which is not the place for cqb unless two squads are looking in opposite direction and bump into eachother.

I think one of USMC vs. RUS map in PR can be VDV; as VDV is the quick reaction force of Russia, no?

If you're ambush is ineffective that would generally result in an advance to take the ground given by the enemy, which in turn is often followed by another hasty ambush once enemy positions are started. I can see what you are getting at with the Blufor loving and those points do have merit, I just feel giving Militia more optics would destroy their unique attributes and put them basically on par with a conventional Soviet block military. I guess I just buy into their theme of "locals who armed themselves for whatever reason" more then those people on the other side of this discussion.

would be nice have a AK with scope to the squad leader... or a new kit with scoped ak to another squad member (maybe the spotter)
but i don't think all players should be able to get it.

Maybe on levels with milita but a kit limit on kits with optics for the opposing team? I do think milita needs changes as right now it sits in a awkward spot between Conventional forces and insurgents/ taliban, I would like to see them move more toward Taliban more with dropping hideouts and changes to where milita can request kits from.

Found this in the PR1.0 files today, your requests may have been granted by the devs:

I also found a AKS-74 with extended magazines:

The weapon with optics is used in two kits, the ALT Marksman and the Spotter.
