btw I just noticed that a sniper could practicalyl hide anywhere in these hedges. Unlike in current city maps, where it is hard to hide the own silhouette.

Expect them to come down burning if they try it with tanks around.
Yeah actually murphy's law will cause the helis to lag spike into a tree and the tanks will get stuck in a ditch.

Just make a post in the beta tester forums when you are ready.
Just wrote a PM to Irontaxi about how testting is going to work.

Had some insane fun driving the tank over the soft hills. The hedges are more or less 2m high. A skilled tank crew can take advantage of covering most of the tank behind a hedge while firing over it. I hope this will turn out to be some classy WW2 like tank combat action. And because I placed no APCs, there is still many infantry running around.
For this map alone...You deserve R-DEV......

Infantry Alone with Cars would be Epic. make a 32 Size with just Humvees and Vodniks.

I'm looking foreward to a version with only light APCs (Strykers, the PLA APC with its new turret, etc), some dirtbikes, and proper mechanized infantry. Seeing a Stryker move across the field covering infantry would be soo cinematic.
On an unrelated note, I wish people quit using APCs as tanks.
Anyone know what the MEC light APC is going to be? In the Dev Journal thread on the new .50, Rhino said something about all factions having three types of APCs- heavy (BMP), medium (LAV), and light (Stryker)
Edit: Nevermind, I just remembered. It is going to be the new Vodnik someone was making and nearly finished. The one with the 14.5mm and PKM coax.

An APC would instantly own these areas because it has a very high rate of fire for a very effective anti-infantry weapon (HE rounds autocannon).
Keep in mind there is light APCs like the Stryker (although the MEC BTR-60 is deadlier).
The devs also seem to be promoting APCs as the main means of transport in PR but I presume they'll discuss assets with you after the map itself is done.

I do no think APCs in this game are used as transport. Most APC crews are on their own. I only see this at the start of a round that APCs drive some people to CPS.

While this may look cool in the imagination, the reality of the game is different. APCs are Anti-infantry tanks. Also riding in an APC is far more dangerous than riding in a HUmvwee. Because paradoxically, APCs are seen as a larger threat and AT players are much more aftr them. On the other hand, that random humvee drinving by is often ignored, because most players do nto want to waste their AT on "just a jeep".

Isn't AAS16 used for that? I am a bit confused where the difference is because the map size is the same on the other maps. And what exactly is skirmish then?

WAT? Monster Vodnik. Now this thing can drive to the Muttrah docks and sink the carrier itself.

Skirmish usually requires a completely different flow of action and thinking wrt gameplay as you're dealing with small-scale firefights between a maximum of 12 people a side (2 squads v 2 squads).
Generally select a good dynamic section of the map and establish CPs within that section. But you can worry about that once the nitty gritty of mapmaking is out of the way.

Oh did not think of that. Guess that is what I get for playing 24/7 one map servers lol.
But anyway the GPO will most likely get mofidifed a lot during testing. Running alone on the map can only get me so far in estimating.
But you have to admit this abrams hiding between the trees just looks so cool.

I'm pretty sure the MEC will be sticking with the BTR-60 as their light APC. If the Vodnik reappears, it will probably be in the role of light recon (like the BRDM-2 and HMMWV).
On topic: Map looks excellent, and congrats on the R-CON, Agent Parker.

The BRDM-2 is not an APC, it's an armored car.
The Vodnik fills a role closer to that of the HMMWV, it does carry personel on the battlefield, unlike the BRDM-2. The real Vodnik might take upon the role of both the Striker and the HMMWV, as the closest (most used Middle-eastern) counterpart, is the M113 and its variants. The vodnik fills the job for quick, light and armored transportation.
Back OT, fantastic map, I'm not too sure about MECvsRU, because they use the same vehicles, albeit not the same weapons. MECvsUSA fits better IMO, we don't have any forest-camo M1A2s in PR yet, i'd like to see it used.
As for MEC, having them with forest camo would be awesome. I know we have forest camos for most of their vehicles currently except one : the T-72.
