the wear and tear is placed realistically on edges and areas where there's alot of activity, e.g. on magazines or connection points for belts of ammo

In the past texturers have been very 'yeah, scratch this shizz up!' and it's looked quite hollywood and cool...but simply doens't look realistic and would probably earn any soldier a slap on the head from their Sgt for poor weapon maintenance.

What Rudd is saying. Like if Latvian soldiers would not clean their G36KV's, they would not get the most from it. Even AK-47 after maintenance performs better.
