well... Since PR has it's own .exe... oh well.

Well, spamming a single request seemed to work (2142 widescreen support?)

Just have a few million people say "Oh, can you up the number of people in a squad to 7 or 8 and add another squad and up the number of max players to 128?"

But if they got 128... could they up the maximum map size? or maximum objects or something? Since Graphics cards are getting better, and good ones are getting cheaper... A graphics card from 2-3 years ago seems to be the minimum requirement now...

pr has its own exe but it didnt change any of the bf2.exe, just added shaders to it. ea could easyly do alot that would make pr a huge and i mean huge amount better, now only if there was a way to show this to ea and let them bank on it.

PR.exe does nothing fancy as you might think.

It just swaps few files and starts BF2.exe.

I'm the guy over at RD that did all the MODing for the 128 player. I was just searching the web for any information or if anyone succeeded yet and I found this thread :-) I have put many hours and $ into trying to get this to work. I have my fingers crossed in hopes that EA includes the 128 player option with the official patch release of 1.5

If not I know where I left off at and would like to continue to keep trying.

From what people have told me and what I have read online there was 65+ player BF2 demo servers.If this is true then it will work.
EA saw this and that is when they hard coded the max player at 64. So where I left off is at the demo and we could never get more than 20 people playing the demo and I didn't want to post on all the forums asking for people to DL the BF2 demo and then have it fail again. And yes I did get all maps and mods to work with the BF2 demo .exe but it did require another DL and I gave up there figuring there would be no chance to get over 65 people to DL this custom mod.


The servers of today's standards would have np doing 128 player. Our gaming rigs would handle it just as well. Most data centers have 100 MB lines so thats np either. All that needs done is the correct files modified.

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the tests that we did try. That alone was a giant step.

I would love to see someone figure this out and I will help as best I can. :thumbsup:

It works in the single player but the guy who took that was playing online co-op.
Pr with 64 people vs 112 bots would be something different yea, would make an interesting training mode anyhow

Yes,you can have up to 256 people on a server,it's just that 192 of them will have to be bots and the bots that aren't in squads don't fight,although I've heard different about that

Yup 97 bots on one team against the humans. That is our coop server and it can not handle much more than 16 people. That server is operated out of a members house running on fiber optic (1.7 MB upload). If we was going to continue testing 128 player I would rent a server box for the test. All and All money is no object. I have offered to pay people off to even get this to work.

Go to your C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\AI\AIDefault

In that file are some notes. Read those notes and change your values.

Yeah, I played on the server for about an hour or so and it ran very smoothly to me. At one point the US side had a sizable amount of people, I think close to 20, with only a minor slowdown that was really only noticeable when you were flying something nimble like a littlebird. Then again, I might be a bad example since I get no lag on Qinling either, ever, but I don't see why this wouldn't be an option for training maps.
