Re: Why do you hate mumble?
It is good if it isn't crowded....
I am not a fan of it as it is most time used to talk bull...
Could be personal problem but i get problems to differ Squad talk to mumble talk.
I kind of got the feeling that it destroys teamplay more than it helps as it messes with squad work.
Gues it is usefull as long as"only" SQL are in it as they can install a network of Organisation, but don't see a sense in it as everyone on the server is using it brabbling to everyone...
it should be more like Squadmember request sth. from SQL or refers sth. to him and if it's important SQL manages things in mumble.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I only hate it because players have become spoiled by it and seem to refuse to want to use ventrilo or teamspeak friendly servers.
Other than that it's awesome.

Mumble is awesome, just love it and use it all the time.
But one thing, please people, DO NOT set the same key for VOIP and Mumble... It's very annoying for the squad members, they can hear you twice!!!
I saw this twice today and actually it makes it hard to understand anything said as VOIP is much slower than Mumble to transmit and creates echoes.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I'll only add to this discussion by saying that the documentation for PR Mumble needs to be improved dramatically. Trying repeatedly to use it and find that the positional audio doesn't work for me results in a rage quit. Only by reading this thread did I find out that Mumble needs to be run in Admin mode on Vista/Win 7. Frustration from technical difficulties led me to abandon it for some time (and I'm likely not the only one). Yes, I understand the purpose of it and would likely enjoy it as others do if I didn't have to hunt around for one of several possible fixes.
Also: The current version has been out for 1.5 years and I think it needs an update. Has the project been abandoned? I have not seen any PR Mumble news since July of 2009.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
i dont use PR-Mumble becouse of the "Push to talk" restriction... you cant use Voice recognition in PRmumble... i think there are reasons for that... but for me its not funny to use.
i play a game which is realistic in so many ways...then i need to use a button to speak with my teammates they are around 5 meters of me? no thanks.
My Clan is using mumble and i love it, the settings are similar to PR Mumble...the only exception is, that we are using voice recognation AND push to talk.
Push to talk ignores positioning audio and simulates a radio...
positions works with voice recognation.
thats the second best way to use mumble in PR...i think...
would PR Mumble use voice recognation AND push to talk for radio, i would use it every time.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
Because every time i join mumble there is that random guy who is talking outside the game, because generally there is too much spam and shows how mature we actually are, because if you are a sl there's always theese russian guys with very loud microphones that annoy the **** out of me.And if someone desides to play a song...And it lowers my game volume so much i can bareley hear the VOIP or the sneaky MEC behind me.I generally don't use it.
Forgive my bad English...

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I love mumble. Ive had my best games on mumble talking to Cas/friendly squads co-oping a cache together or etc. As a squad leader its really nice to be able to guide a friendly cas or tank in the right direction or even be like "OMGZZZ IM PINNED SQD 4! TO UR 125!" and have a hail of bullets hit a nme squad suppressing me/sqd.
Im one of those people who is also one of the "talkative" (ie just killing time with banter and shit) ones on mumble but its usually to my squad and we cut the shit when its starts getting hot.
Ill be on ts3 and mumble at the same time, I dont cry about it. I usually have my squad in my ts3 and mumble at same time. OH LORDY 2 extra keys to bind. not a problem. just think of it as reaching for a the radio or something for you "ITS GOTTA BE REALZZLEZLZE" guys ^.^
TY For integrating devs!

PS: also its not difficult to use ethier, after joining a mumble server, it took me 3 mins with the help of guys from the community to set it up and get me straight. You cant talk until your spawned in or the directional wont work and you can ethier 1. go into a team channel and ask: "is this the mec team" and someone will always answer yes or no or 2. just ask in game. For people who "strive" for realism I dont see how 30 seconds of your time to have a much more enjoyable, realistic experience is too much. /rantdone

A) If you yell randomly at a kid we don't hear you
B) For people who have loud fans that annoy the hell out of the other people using it. (because it's always the guy with the loud fan using Voice Activation)
C) When you're near enemies you don't make noise
D) Because you'rea good person, and don't want to annoy the other users.

Most heavy mumble usage servers (PRTA, TG) have admins which can swap you.

Right click sound symbol bottom right of windows > recording devices > communications tab > "do nothing".PlaynCool wrote:..And it lowers my game volume so much i can bareley hear the VOIP or the sneaky MEC behind me.I generally don't use it.
Also the annoyance you get from people talking out of game is greatly worth tolerating for the teamwork increase you get from using the program, IMO.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
It's because mumble is superior to TS and ventrilo in terms of voice quality (understanding people) and latency. Easy.guru951 wrote:I only hate it because players have become spoiled by it and seem to refuse to want to use ventrilo or teamspeak friendly servers.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
Because I always play with the same squadmates and approximately one half of them (usually the squadleaders) don't speak/understand much English. Therefore it might be useful on Pelitutka at best.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I just don't get it why ppl dont use mumble more. It seriously makes the gameplay easier and smoother the more ppl use it.
Servers should advertise more mumble. Like now some server say that "You must join a
Squad", well it could as well say "You must join our mumble channel". And all server owners should add "Mumble" to their server name like this: *NwA* UK Reality 0.957e [Mumble]
I am not sure but if u devs haven't yet added an advertisement about mumble to the PR menu ad-list where it say "Vote on MOTY, it is easy free" etc., like "Always join the appropriate Mumble channel for the server you are playing."
Now when launching pr.exe it also launches some tr.exe, how about launching PR mumble the same way?
Ps. Is there a way to make th PR mumble to auto-connect to the PR official server?

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
In order to even have a chance at forcing people to use mumble like you envision, it will also have to autoconfigure, set up a PTT keybind, find the right server channel, and for some servers, find the right room inside the channel.Atkinson wrote:Now when launching pr.exe it also launches some tr.exe, how about launching PR mumble the same way?
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I agree that would be ideal. In the mean time getting ppl even half way there would help because in-game you could just tell them to Alt-Tab and at least check it out.mat552 wrote:In order to even have a chance at forcing people to use mumble like you envision, it will also have to autoconfigure, set up a PTT keybind, find the right server channel, and for some servers, find the right room inside the channel.

Re: Why do you hate mumble?
I hate mumble because it is unstable!
I really like the idea it self and I wish it was built upon the Teamspeak client!
My mumble usually doesn't connect properly or has a lot of bugs and it keeps disconnecting!
