this one looks loads better. Esicpaly now that the sun casts shaddows on the lightmaps and they aint just a pure shade of black

yep, i tried being clever but that sky didnt work ,the atmosphere was evening and the vehicvles seemed too bright. ALl lightmaps were medium/low quality and just messy because its kept crashing.
Deafault lightmap settings

and 'resume previous' option for when it crashes (ty again rhinop) and 5 days later it looks much better. I know its less unique but everyone loves a sunny day right!?

Plus never know there maybe a night version in the future

Nice! but ummm I though viewdistance was one of the main causes for lag in the old version, or was it something else?

the main cause of lag turned out to be acutely how ducky here did the overgrowth hehe. I had to spend a whole night working on fixing up his overgrowth
There was many theorys to what was causing the lag, and im still stunned with how many lightmapatales the map has but it turned out to be just the overgrowth which duck did it so it would look like normal overgrwoth in any other map, BUT it took up a huge amount of extra recoreces and it took him much longer to set it up like that doing little blobs here and there
EDIT: here is the post i did ages ago when i was fixing it
ye just going to give you a simple lesson on how you are ment to use the overgrowth tool
Now at the moment, what you have done is shoot the denisty on your bushes etc really, really high, so that where you give a small area you want them to be in, they will be there.
this is
NOT how it is ment to be used.
the code is generating from your settings you have defined basicly this, over the map but this is only in a small area:
abit too much hu?
Well basicly, this is how its ment to be used, you keep the area ive defined above, you scale down the density settings and put in the other settings like min distance to same etc. Then you get something like this over that area above:
Now thats not excatly what you want? No problem. You take the area and you cut out the bits you dont want to get what you do want
ending up with this:
Now this should use alot less recoreces for the clients with any luck, and also at the same time places your overgrowth more randomly, without you having to make tiny little dots everywhere

FREAKIN' SWEET! Finally a good urban map with somewhat good viewdistance, still it's funny how the overgrowth was the resource hog seeing as how little there was of it.

??:
Maybe you could up the VD by another 50 meters

well you see, there was only little dabs of overgrowth here and there but really, the way the overgrwoth tool work is it generates a patten of where each bit of overgrwoth goes. and then u activate it to go there. it generates that patten quickly ingame as you move from patch to patch.
now the problem duck did is he made a exstamly complicated and exsteramly dence patten with loads of overgrwoth in it, which was taking up all the memory of every ones PC

me no understandy!!!!!!! IM SO DUMB OMG!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111
Also some statics have been removed, like the barriers around the airport, and replaced by terrain banks which cannot be climbed into. But then added stuff otherways.
guerra, id love to up the VD. It runs smooth for me on 900. But heh, its the olde arguement of allowing for people with poor PC's

I think darth will die of a hart attack if he thinks the movie version was "the best map ever" when he plays the new version....

Do you actually not get it? Even I get it!
Here, let me explain: Imagine that your map is a piece of paper. Now when you activate overgrowth, it coats the paper in lemon juice. Can't see anything right? But it's there. Now when you want to draw a design, you put the lamp over the areas you want it to appear. Now you have places where brown is showing, and places that are clear, but the whole thing is still coated in lemon juice. This is the same way overgrowth works in BF2.
Got it now?
