Please whoever reads this I'm not too serious about it, I'm 70% kidding, and don't take it personal, or real even. Also, English is my second language, and even thou I can use it pretty good, I lack (some) finesse in social behavior to stress this is a relaxed conversation...

... so,
I don't know if you were back in the days when BF2 1.5 patch was announced... lots of us got excited, as we saw a good chance for EA to remove the cap with 64 players. We even made a petition, with 1000+ people signing it. Community members wrote numerous posts on EA official forum, wrote mails, tried to get a response from the EA, and it was all in vain.

They said nothing. Did nothing. It felt like asking something from a blank wall.
I was like "ffs, maaan, why don't they just let us play the game we want, haa??? what's their problem? I mean, it's THERE it can be done with ease, then, why not, for the love of God!?"

Today, the situation is a lot different... but kinda, like, the same, if you think about it...
I don't know if this sounds like an insult, or a praise - I'm not going for either of those - but PR DEVs are starting to look like they have been kidnapped and replaced by EA staff lately. :m1helmet:

Of course, I got my fingers crossed cos there has to be a reason for the silence and the waiting, and I'm hoping they gonna surprise us with something spectacular, as they always do. ;)

Also, two words: Karez 300.

EDIT: and one more word, that I haven't heard since 200 is down: Platoon :33_love:

Isn't it quite obvious? EA dont want any hype around a 6 year old game. It doesn't sell any more. They want people to buy their new games. A 128 player FPS is a hype they want to save for the future.

The future? Lets get through the BF franchise:

BF1942 (64p)-->BF:Vietnam (64p)-->BF2 (64p)-->BF2142 (64p)-->BF:Bad Company (32p:shock :) -->BF:Bad Company 2 (32p)-->BF:Bad Company Vietnam (32p)-->BF3 (64p, finally after 5 long years).
As you can clearly see there was a step backwards in terms of player counts (In almost every game!). Not quiet sure if major companies are even interested in hosting a high player count, that leaves PR as last resort for all of us, who are willing to enjoy mass battles.....and ArmA II. :-D

Some places that still sell BF2:

- Buy Battlefield 2: Complete Collection PC Game
- Direct2Drive: Buy BattleField 2 Guide Download
- Battlefield 2: Complete Collection on Steam

It's not freeware yet, neither is the original Battlefield 1942.

That's a dependent expansion for Bad Company 2, not fair to include in your list of standalone titles.

ArmA II servers are capable of more than 64 players, however unlike PR there are barely any that even allow or manage to fill that amount.

ArmA Armed Assault Server List | Search Arma Stats, Rankings, and Banners - Game Tracker

PR:ArmA II might do better, at least for organized events. Hopefully without players and vehicles warping all over the place.

The warping is due to CPU limitations being reached by the server, mainly because of the quantity of AI being used, therefore if PR:ArmA II has few to no AI then those issues shouldn't be apparent on any decent server. It would help if BIS didn't force all the AI operations to one core in the age of multi-core processors.

Just noticed the 300 player event thread is gone, did it get canceled or are the terms being revised?

Try this: The PRTT and SISU community event! - PRTA - PR World Cup

Redundant announcement, i see.

Or maybe Wicca has thrown in the towel with realitymod.com and established his own PR Kingdom :D

Well spread the word to other forums then and make sure we have 301 people standing by to play an epic round of PR.

Actually Wicca did posted in this forum but in the wrong section - General Discussion. Mods probably removed it.

I dont get why they'd remove the thread though. It seems like it could be the coolest event in PR so far.
Imagine that instead of a petty 3 tank line, you could have 8 tanks rolling across the map in formation, all in the same squad. Or a mech inf squad with 2 apc's, 2 fireteams of 6 and a SL being able to quickly traverse the map strike hard as a self sufficient unit, etc, etc.

It would be quite sad if it doesn't get approved. With good coordination it would without doubt be the most epic event ever in the history of gaming!
