Running between high and medium... cuz im thinking some HIGH-settings are very useless (like proofed @ Terrain, lighting, etc)
i only have effects and geometries on maximum.
AA off, sucks a lot of performance

What sort of FPS are people getting in Korengal valley? There's quite a few places where my FPS drops down to the 40s'. It's sooo frustrating/annoying getting new hardware and then think ur shiny new GPU is under performing cause you've read reviews saying how great the GPU is. So is anyone managing to stay in the 60FPS range all the time in Korengal?

creepinshadow24/7 wrote:weeelll, i get 100FPS on every map all the time on all high settings+ 8x AA
why?
cuz i just built myself an i7 rig with the leetness of a HD 4870 1GB GDDR5
on my old laptop though Korengal was near to unplayable, i guess thats why i sold it. You might wanna decrease geometry settings. thats what i did on my own lappy, its mostly the CPU's fault that it goes stuttering. As with DirectX9 games, they still use the CPU to render the geometrys and all the models. the GPU practically only does textures, lighting, shadows, and shaders.
The thing is I've got an HD 4870 512Mb, a 3.6GHz core 2 duo and 4gb of RAM. Are you really getting 100FPS even when walking out of the US base and looking down that narrow road leading into the village? What about Ramiel, 100FPS there too all the time?
All the benchmarks tell me my hardware is performing as it should, 3DMark06 gives me 15000 points and so on. Yet the gaming isn't much better than on my old system which had an 8800 GT 512Mb.

40FPS is almost certainly likely to be between 10 and 15 frames per second more than the point at which you eye will start to perceive any slowdown in the moving image. If the most graphics-intensive map in PR can bring your PC to ~45FPS on full highest settings, that says more about the level to which the BF2 engine has been pushed,
not deficiencies in your hardware.
Only a single core of your processor will be utilised, with around 3.25Gb of your RAM if you're on a 32-bit OS - actually much less because you've also got your OS's functions and any background programs rammed in there too, not just BF2/PR.
The engine doesn't make use of any fancy new stuff on your DX10 card or multiple cores. Don't expect performance seen in artificial benchmarks - written specifically to take advantage of every last drop of ability in hardware - to be born out in games that are effectively around 6-7 years old.

An object was found textured at like super super max resolution, much higher than it should have been and THIS is currently casing DRASTIC drop in performance on Korengal. Expect a good boost come .85.
That is, if our problem is when looking at certain areas, etc. Which was also my problem. Decent performance, but when I looked in a certain map direction I dropped like 30+ FPS. Regardless, you should see a certain boost come .85 and Korengal.
There's a thread on it somewhere...

Yea, it's still very playable but I'm wrapped up with the FPS numbers now when I see posts like creepinshadow24/7's saying they get 100FPS ALL THE TIME with similar hardware. I've asked about this in the in-game chat too and get "yea I get 100FPS all the time" there too.
Another example map could be Ramiel. When I'm in the city I average out around 50-60FPS and hardly see 100FPS come up.

Nice, one of my favourite maps that one is. Just love walking slowly down the narrow roads and taking down bad guys that suddenly pop up out of nowhere.

TheOak, I have the same stuff like you apart from an Ati 4850 1GB. I can't say i'v seen such a huge drop in fps, almost all the time 100, never lower than 80/85. I have terrain on medium because of the RAM-loading issue, so maybe that could be a reason.

1024x768 with all high and AA set to 4x. I'm amazed how well my x1950pro and E6600 still can run the new heavy desert maps. Forest maps are averaging 60+ fps almost constantly
But if I use my native 1680x1050 resolution my poor graphics card is annihilated
