We have a pretty good system right now for it, but it dose take quite a advanced profiler to get it up and running well. The Saitek Profiler which comes with all there joysticks, and also mice and keyboards is good, I've set my Saitek x52 up to use them really well

Not so sure on what other users are going to do. Only bad part about it is you can't really use the "f" key to cycle though weapons any more since the HAT switch keys are in fact weapons that are configured to use cameras, thou you can still fire off your guns while in them, and i think missiles / bombs thou was some time since i last tried it.

Can any dev please give away if the APC- driver view has been changed to the same as the tanks (periscope)? Or just gotten a new camera angle so you can actully look backwards?

Su30MMK, SU34 Flanker & F15C are NOT confirmed yet(and are basicly import from Vanilla...), if Dev can tell me if they will be put in or not it would be appreciated.

A.P.C.
Does not have periscope that rotate 360 like the tank. The 2 Optics sight you see are at the left Gunner view and at the right Chief Crewman view, Driver CANNOT ( like any other crewman infact ) see behind himself like in tank, i thnk they put a little camera IRL are they simply relie on somone on hatch that can check for him.

Yeah, but I'm mainly talking about gameplay reasons. Since armor only have driver + gunner, the driver should be able to somehow look backwards so he can reverse saftely and/or cover the back while the gunner is busy engaging targets in front. It would be really silly to not let the driver look backwards because of one little realism detail. And it would kinda put a stick in the wheel for teamwork between gunner and driver.

I Saw this some weeks ago. You are going to need lot's buttons on your Joystick now. Well that is if you want to use all the View points that you can now have. This is going to be a pain for me until I lay my hands on a Joystick that has more than the 8 + HAT I have right now
You see. To do this right. You are going to have to set one button to bomb mode. One button to AA Missiles mode. One button to just use the cannons mode. That's 3 buttons right there. Now remember. The A10 has 4 firing modes. So one more for LGM Mode. That's 4. Now I still need my ViOP and my Aftherbuners. That's 5 and 6. Oh wait I also need to Fire the Cannons with the Trigger. So that's 7. And Alt Fire to drop the Bombs/LGS/Hidras. There goes 8. Now what am I going to do about flares? Looks like I am going to have to lose a view point from the HAT switch. It will have to be left I think. Don't like looking left. It's just not right. Dam I will have to lose looking right as well for Eject/bail (I Can live with out that one really) . I Just will not have enough buttons. So That's the count chaps. You need a 10 button + HAT switch Joystick for PR in Jets now. I Like it. I Just don't know when I will lay my hands on a New Joystick to replace my old Sidewinder Precision 2.
Plus this new setup for view will screw your BF2v setting right up (Yes, some of us still play). But you can always make a backup for you game profile.con file and switch them about when you want to.
That's hows it is anyway from what I have seen. He who has 10 + HAT Joystick will be Princes of the skys (can't be King as I am that no matter what you have at your hands). Looks good to me.
PS I Await the Tornado

That fly's nice so it does.

I play Project Reality for Realism, infact, more realist is it, more i like it, even if its harder.
A.P.C. driver cannot see behind, thats how it is in real life and thats how it is in Project Reality. You got to live whit it.

Just use the numbers on the keyboard to change weapons

: I have a sidewinder, hopefully with enough buttons to match those fancy pants saitek kids.
Btw, would this change also apply to helis ? It'd be so dam usefull to look down at the ground when landing and retain flight controls

Disagree because it does require teamwork and yea I agree its a pain but that sums up pr doesnt it
The apc does have mirrors on it though which arent working presently, I think thats the best argument for some very restricted rear viewpoint

This may seem wrong, but what you need to do is go out and buy a wired Xbox 360 controller, hook it up to your USB Port, and download the drivers from Microsoft's website. Now put your throttle on your triggers, yaw to the bumpers, roll and pitch to your left thumb stick. Primary Fire to A, Alt Fire to B, Change Weapon to X, I have Y as free look, put your VOIPs, and Bail to the D Pad, Afterburners to the Right Thumbstick Button and Flares to the Left Thumbstick Button, and you've still got buttons left over

PR is a realism mod, yes, but not a simulation. And it's limited to the BF2- engine. If it were supposed to be really realistic, most armored vehicles would have three or four seats (commander, gunner driver & loader), and the commander would be the guy that could look backwards in most APC's. But due to player limitations, only two guys are needed to operate armor. It's not realistic, but it doesn't undermine they way PR tries to be realistic. Same thing with the driver view; it would just be a minor change to enhance the teamwork and effectiveness of APC's. It would definitly not turn PR into an arcade shooter.
Teamwork & playability > minor detail that doesn't really serve any purpose.

as long as you have a gunner it dosnt matter, not being able to see behind needs improved communication and understanding with gunner

Making it harder to do something does not equal increased teamwork.
Especially something so fundamental as "looking behind you so you can see where your going".

well yea, but generally if something is harder without teamwork and the enemy are doing it and you ain....you'll lose

Problem is that you usually line up your APC with the front towards the enemy, coz of the thicker frontal armor. So the gunner is usually busy shooting the enemies in front, the driver can't look backwards, which leaves the APC totally defenseless against attacks from behind. So one squadldess lonewolf can actully defeat an organized APC- crew this way.

the APC shouldn't have been out there alone in the first place

Kinda hard if you want to cover the infantry from a distance, etc.

In my clan we always use a APC and Infantry, they get out only when we seen hostile. Thats an awesome tactic. We can even destroy Tank

HAT, LAT, 25MM chain gun = no more tank lol!
