Funny that 15% of the poll say they don't use mumble because others don't use it. The highest percentage of players that don't use mumble choose not to because others don't use it......Sounds like they are causing their own gripe. Next time logon and tell other to do the same.

I don't use Mumble because I've never worked out how to use it. That said, I would like to use it when I start playing PR again. When I tried to install it, I found that I wasn't really sure what to install, how it worked, and how to set it up. Once I work those out, I'll use it.

I run both TS3 and Mumble in conjunction while playing (because different players from the community use different comms means) and I can tell you that if you put the mumble quality to 10 and APP to 20ms there is no appreciable difference in sound quality between the two, and depending on the TS3 channel quality, mumble averages lower latency and same/better sound quality.

'Limeni[BiH wrote:;1549877']I agree with gazzthompson that mumble quality is great, maybe your poor quality has something to do with your PC.
You know that mutmble has sound positioning?
Well I got crackling sound in Win7 64b before I made it to run Win XP compability mode.
So maybe its not yet full 64bit supported or something. Soundcard is SB X-FI Fidel1ty on game mode.
And yes, 3d sound positioning is in both voips. TS3 just dont support old games, means nobody hasnt done plugin for bf2.
In mumble client will decide sound quality, on ts3 it goes by channel.
If you put both clients on max quality and both 20ms latency, TS3 really has better sound quality but more latency.
You can freely test TS3 sound quality on my server at kompassi.com
it has 512 slots and all channels are on max quality, lowest latency.

Mumble definitely does not have a poor sound quality. On the opposite.
DAMBUSTER: it is relatively easy to learn. Install it like anyother app.
1. Connect --> Custom Servers --> PR official server (info is already there) --> pick a nickname and press connect
2. Configure --> Shortcuts --> Add a key to "Local Speech"
3. Find the channel of the server where you currently playing and join that channel and if there is Team 1 and 2 channels, pick the right one. Go play.
I still agree if all above could be somehow done automatically, it would greatly increase players participation. Even automatic connection would be step to the right direction. Anything that lowers the threshold to use mumble is good.
For me it is not even the realism aspect of Mumble 3D voice that makes me use it, it is the fact that it seriously makes the communication to the ppl near you in-game so much more easier and more effective. + it is fun as hell.
Imagine playing a football (or egghand) game without normal real life positional speech capability and you understand why mumble usage is must in PR.

Thanks - I may try it again in the near future

Love mumble. Use it allways. Me and my mates meet on our mumble then jump on servers after.
However, being on our own mumble, we are missing out on being on mumble with all the rest of you.
Having our own mumble lets us speak swedish to eachother without anyone complaining or feeling left out.
That is good. Missing out on teamchat is bad.
However a year and a half back a managed to run 2 mumbles the same time. That was good. For some reason I can't now. Anyone now a sure fix for me to able to be on 2 mumbles?

I am not a fan of it as it is most time used to talk bull...
Could be personal problem but i get problems to differ Squad talk to mumble talk.
I kind of got the feeling that it destroys teamplay more than it helps as it messes with squad work.
Gues it is usefull as long as"only" SQL are in it as they can install a network of Organisation, but don't see a sense in it as everyone on the server is using it brabbling to everyone...
it should be more like Squadmember request sth. from SQL or refers sth. to him and if it's important SQL manages things in mumble.
That's pretty much exactly how I feel about mumble as well. Squadleaders aka
officers
are making the decisions and they should be the ones giving instructions to heli pilots (assuming pilots/crewmen are all in mumble) and whatnot, not the whole squad yelling the same thing at the same time. Too many people talking at the same time always equals confusion. On the other hand, this limits the "having fun" part of mumble (e.g. chit-chatting), but hey, we have survived many years without mumble and still have been able to have fun within our own squads.
Also what annoys me are some of the mumble-users who just can't be quiet about how AWESOME mumble is. It feels about the same as if someone would try to convince you to join a religion. And I'm an atheist so... quite annoying yes. Some people just don't want to use mumble, period. End of story. No need to preach no more. Just let it be, people who want to join mumble WILL join mumble. The rest won't.

which is also the case if you dont use mumble and the reason why SL's should get their squad to shut up.
Even though I gotta admit that it sometimes gets annoying.
When your trying to talk to your squad and at the same time some other guys babble on about something important only to them communication does get a bit difficult.
But overall, I think Mumble has a great effect on Teamwork, especially with the SL-Channel.
The Area-talk (or however its called) is cool too but doesnt seem as necessary to me.

Mumble can really be confusing and people should keep the talking ingame at a minimum, because sometimes it gets too much when you have clanmates in ts, squadmates on voip, other bystanders in mumble and squadleaders in the sl channel all talking at the same time. So please communicate only when you really have something to say. (still mumble + pr = epic win)

I love mumble. I wish all fps' came with mumble installed & standard. The most fun I've ever had playing video games, has been on a PR server with mumble. If you find it too complicated to use, then you probably find a lot of other things on a computer complicated, because it is really not.

whats the point of you having your own mumble?
Point is that it's where we get together for gaming. We are part of bigger clan who uses mumble for all its games. Got our own channel for PR. It's where we meet, usually we are about 8 - 10 players.
Mumble is better then TS3/Vent etc in our opinion. Isn't that why we all use it?
I'm trying to get us to switch anyways to another program so we can use servers mumble in addition. But knowing 2 mumbles can be used simontainusly makes me want to do it that way.
Question remains: How do I setup 2 mumbles?

Install them and start using

I can run PR mumble and the latest RC Mumble without problems. Just make sure they are installed in different folders and try older/RC versions of the normal mumble if the latest doesnt work with PR.
Anyway, you guys should definitely use the Official PR Mumble server, at least for the 3D voip. It is always nice to hear someone speaking other then english in-game with the 3D voip.
