Great fun testing it out today! Really awsome work stretching an allready way more than healthy stretched out engine further, this just shows how capable it actually is.

Also, it'd be fun to have some sort of after action report on this: What you tested, how you tested it, how it turned out and other statistics (I'm rather interested in what that testing with the physics frame rate was about).

Ooh, and hopefully we can have proper civilians (bots) on insurgency now! :D

About 8km+ maps... it's quite possible, but the editor most definitely does not cope with it. In-game it works however, but on larger map sizes the collisions appear to have problems, also the combat area breaks.

Just played kashan and wanda shan, as transport and the most epic thing ever. Normal 64 people i did airdrops every 10 mins, now i do them every 2-3mins of being in the main. :D DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

128 players is great, but to make the teamplay/player part work the maps need more/larger flags.. I think the number of armour should stay as it is now, because it allways have been a leak of infantry on maps like, kashan and other "vehicle" maps..

But now does the 4km maps fit since you got enough players to fill the 16 000 000 square meters on the 4km maps :p

The future is bright, but still some fixes left.. ex. Name tags etc :p and some layout (now you only see the 6 best players in the squads etc)

History is written today, what more can I say?

I do agree that it requires 4km^2 maps, though some of the 2km maps might work pretty well, especially the insurgency ones. It will just lead to a bit more realistic personnel density, hopefully more teamwork as well
Read the 11th post in this thread and learn square kilometres :P 4km^2 is a map with 2km side, aka 2km x 2km= 4km^2 ;-)

For the need of larger maps lets just stick current maps together, so you can drive from the deserts of Kashan to the rolling hills of Wanda Shan in the same map.

I played on it for a few mintues, it runs surprisingly well. It's an admin nightmare with the amount of shenanigans/stupidity going on, but I look forward to seeing its released.

And here was everyone a few years back saying we would never see more than 64 players in PR, because it was hardcoded.
They said it was impossible...

It was awesome devs!! Besides a few tag isseus and lagy moments which im sure mappers and you guys will iron out, its a dream come true.

Also thx everyone for watching the my cast of the test of this new 128 server, next time it will be more teamplay, i didnt expect to cast this long or even get onto the server at some point. The video is already online and the link is in my signature. Over 60 people tuned in at the same time, a new alltime record for my little PR stream :-o

worked fine for me, little lag sometimes, but it's really really fine! :D
played wanda shan and silent eagle, both were awesome
the 128 player thing takes PR up to a new level!
the sound backdrop is now at its most awesome point, never heard so many firefights in the distance before!
it's a bit hard to lead a squad at the moment, but i think the players just have to get used to 128 player server and then we have some normal tactical games again!

suggestion: i know its hardcoded, but the player number was also, so if it is possible: increase the number of squads! 9 squads are not enough for 128 players, as you can see at the tests now

and to the tag problems: players are playing much more careful now, they think twice before they shoot!
i think thats an awesome bug, should be always like that

The only problem i encountered was the players going crasy. But that is truly hardcoded as we all know :p

agreed, BF2 was made to support 128 players so 64player maps is essentially 4x2km, this was purposely when all the DOD's are so small on vanilla
