No, he's onto something. IDF got their scopes removed because they aren't used IRL apparently. Why isn't the same done for the russian faction? I never use their scopes anyway, way too clunky.

well, post up some credible sources about it or get some Russian servicemen to post up. my vage recollection of conversations from many moons ago make me think that the use of optics in the Russian forces went up around the time of the south Ossetia incident?

During the last major training exercise, that involved around 80k troops, I didn't really notice large amount of soldiers having scopes on their AK's. Hell, some had beat up AKS-74's.
