played for an hour or so today, then got kicked for MD5s'

Honestly, I'm really really impressed by this. I love the grenades, the various rifles and the boots. all brilliant, well done!

Anders, I was wondering if you're already collaborating with dodek96_pl on his ESS project? Might as well test both in the same manner since they are both in the sound department?

If you read this try to add a "crack" sound to some bullet impacts in the distance or near by, i like the "crack crack crack" sounds (no i don't smoke crack)

might not be possible on the engine

Yeah, thx for helping me to test guys.

Yes, we have now tested new cracks for bullets passing by. Everyone seems pretty satisfied with them.
Regarding cracks in distance. I think it Will work to add new bulleteffects and put min and max radios for them, not to be heard upclose. But like from upclose cracks to 50m away and then silent.

It seems like the crack sounds differ in quality. While some really send you diving for cover, others are closer to the default cracks.

UPDATE

Everyone who is experiencing the MD5 CHECKSUM ERROR and who are being removed
by punkbuster automatically from the PRTA Soundmod Server and the sisu 128 server.
Please Read This...

DO NOT patch the files manually using winrar. this method is now obsolete
and you will get removed from any server.
If you wish to play with the v0.3 sound mod, REVERT your archives back to the originals.
ie the ones native to the PR original installation which you should have backed up.
Then download the new INSTALLER at SM.PRTA.CO
run the installer as ADMIN from the properties.
then install the mod, then your done.
Now you can play in the designated PRTA Sound Mod 05 server with the v0.3 sound mod.

Note: if you got hold of the v0.4 this will not work anymore and you will be removed.

if anyone wants assistance with the installation process and is having difficulties,
please join the PRTA Team Speak Channel and either I or the sound mod team will help you.

DOWNLOAD THE NEW INSTALLER AT SM.PRTA.CO

Cheers Rivers

Yeah i've been testing some stuff myself and i don't have the knowledge to figure out what distance the sounds will be at when modified, no clue what I'm doing.. but i'm glad u heard my plea. I've read on some old vietnam stuff and seen some of these HD combat vids coming out and man an angry bullet sounds just like they say, "crack".

the only sound that comes close to cracks is when your getting shot at and bullets are hitting wood_1 effects, concrete and mud/sand/dirt bullet impacts need to be better, way better, howcopy

I have looked around and can't find any explanation on what exactly you mean by "backing up the archives". What are these and what folders are they located in?

Also, where exactly does one find version 4 of this mod?

Cheers 8)

Let's move this discussion here so we don't go o/t in the feedback thread :)

Tarranauha200 wrote:It works for me, quite good but needs some tweaking. Does this mean everyone can make soundmod that makes you hear footsteps and vehicle from 99999m away or something like that?
Something like that :D

So we (Server Moderators) were reminded that we needed to verify our MD5 settings.
This will make sure nobody uses modified PR files which can either be used to cheat or lead into crashes.
Hence the modified file should only be used on a private (locked) server. (if you can play on a public server with the files without getting kicked, they are potentially in breach of their server licence agreement.
5. SOFTWARE USE. You agree that you will ensure that the accompanying MD5 checksums (folder: "pb") will be installed and be running at all times when the server is publicly accessibly (the server has no password and can be freely joined by any individual).
Note: my advice is based on the information I have been given as a server moderator and are not to be taken in the context of any official policy :40_swig:
