YEHA. I feel your pain.
I attempted to go on today. Did it in at least 7 minutes.

It sucks.

Hey guys, I want to post my story on this issue.

I'm getting the same problem with "connection lost" after 15 minutes in PR and vBF2 for more than a year. And I want to emphasize that I played a lot of different games and I dont have any other connection or hardware problems with any other games or streaming services at all.

I have a russian ISP called Tvoe.tv which recently became a part of a national communications provider Rostelecom. Unfortunately I really wasn't able to find out any other feedback of people having BF2 connection problems with my ISP. Probably because there are not many people playing it nowadays.

The only available here cable modem with DOCSIS 3.0 support is the one that I got from the ISP and it's an ARRIS Touchstone CM820 modem. My Router is Netgear WNR3500L. The speed is constantly limited to 35 Mbit/s and I don't use any other services like TV or Home Phone on this line and we dont have any "BOOST" or "BLAST" services like you have with the Comcast.

I've done a really deep research of the PR forums and have already tried every possible solutions for every connection problem that I've found. Seems like the only way to fix this is to change the ISP. Unfortunately the only one ISP in my apt. building that provides stable internet сonnection is the one I'm using.

And I'm still wondering if this problem can be caused by the specific PC hardware configuration.

Some folks here solved the problem by using a modem from a different manufacturer. Do you have a friend / parent that can borrow you a modem so you can test it?

Does the game netcode has anything to do with this? Can the DEVs modify it?

P.s.y.c.h.o. Devs can't modify it. Only EA and Dice can

But pretty much isue

I am experiencing this issue after upgrading to 1.1.6.0 version. I am disconnected after 10-15 minutes or less from servers. my router is zyxel but I don't think that this issue is related to router( modem ). I don't have this problem before.
I hope devs release patch for solving this problem soon.

I too don't think the issue is modem related since I've had the issue with two motorola (one DOCSIS 2.0, one 3.0) modems. I've also tried bypassing my wifi router and directly connect my PC to the modem.

I'm starting to think it may be Comcast blocking the packets, either due to antipiracy policy, or some UDP flood detection. I noticed that before the connection drops, I lose all UDP traffic to the server while TCP traffic (mumble?) continues unscathed. And they might not have a whitelist set up for BF2 traffic since it is such an old game. Of course the tech support denies any packet blocking, traffic shaping or flood prevention and will do so until presented with evidence (like their spoofing of disconnect packets during p2p traffic).

It has been NAT and firewall from the very beginning. Disable firewalls SPI or alike in your routers/modems, computers, disable AV/IS software, DMZ your PC and try it. If it works then there you go, work on it.

VPN can only slow you down IMO, and cost you money, so it might be your provider blocking or filtering some traffic. Investigate that. Read the post from beginning of the topic.

I tried placing my computer in DMZ and bypassing the wifi router and connecting directly to the cable modem as the only computer. Still get the disconnect. Comcast tech came and verified that wiring and signal strength was fine. Switching to Verizon to see if that fixes the issue.

As I posted months ago, it's Comcast's deep packet inspection , it re-orders the packet flow just enough that some older games like BF2, SWTOR, WoW, LoL, etc can not maintain packet reliability.

This all happens at the Comcast datacenters and I don't think there is any way around it.

EDIT: the ISPs using 'traffic shaping' is also another known culprit. Comcast does both traffic shaping and deep packet inspection.

Yes, that is pretty much what I figured (or some other reason for screwing around with the data), but couldn't get a technician to admit it so I didn't really have any proof. Since there were periods where I could play fine without interruption, I was hoping that it was Comcast testing different methods of traffic shaping and was hoping to provide them enough negative feedback that they would just give up altogether but got tired of not being able to play.

Still pisses me off.

For me:

One-Three days it's NO disconnect, no nothing

But then BOOM, for like 2 days it's DC 24/7

But, I noticed MORE of DC on when my family is on their Ipads and Phones.

(guess it's time to set up my router again.)

Screw Comcrap. But I have NO issues at all in ARMA 2, (list any online console game here), World of Warcraft, WOT, and others.

I think it's almost time to just not play PR anymore.

I'll call em again and threaten them.

Well, I noticed ZERO Disconnects on "low times"...

At 12am-3:30pm estern time
I noticed NO disconnects.

(It's no the peak hour.)
The peak hours of course are 3:30-12am ish.
Depends what day of course.

But, yeah. Unfortunantly Lito is right. It's comcast.
Guess I should go to AT&T DSL 6mbps to play PR.

I don't suppose anyone has seen a solution for this since it seems other ISP's are being affected somewhat as well? Surely, not every Comcast user is having problems playing the game. I really don't want to quit PR but it's making playing impossible with the frequent disconnects.

Try playing on European servers for me?

I played on PRTA, and MARK the other day, NO DC.

But when I went on USA servers, DC.

I think they only filter US Server packets.
