Thats why we are running all maps all layers over 2 servers. So we can update our database, Had a good round of burning sands last night right after Muttra which was also a great round.
We had a few CTD at the same time then Kozelsk came on we had alot drop out on map load. Only a few didnt get dropped they seen how many was left got the Kozelsk feeling and left.
As you know when a server crashes a few will wait for it to come back up. But with the new version alot of servers are running that normally dont. So players think "oh the server has crashed" and go back to the server list and join a half full server.
The servers are set to AAS and insurgentcy at the moment so we can run as many of the new maps and layers as we can so every one gets a feel for them. We will be running AAS with some ins maps to break it up a little and the other server will be ins with the odd AAS. Once every one has settled and know what maps they like and what play well on what layer/loadout.
Like I said in my other post we have kept a large log of what maps runs well after other maps and what map combo causes dead creen loading and crashes mid game. As you know our server crashes alot less than it used to.
You may think the map list is boaring but you can play all day with out crashing mid game. We put Gaza after falujha crash 80% of the time. Put jabal after Al basra dead screen load. 40% of the time.
Also the Kozelsk effect some maps players just dont like and dont want to play. How much !shownext do you see near the end of a round then ppl leave when they see Iron ridge coming on. We look at player turn over as well. How many leave between rounds what was the map and what is the map loading after it. How many left?
This thing you think is easy running a gaming server takes alot of work so all you guys get a well admined game server that crashes infrequantly with maps that 99% of the players like.
Brainlagg the !setnext !save increases the chance of crashes. Once we know what maps run well after each round we will then move onto testing !setnext. But that causes not the next map but the map after that to dead screen on loading 40% of the time.
