I would be very surprised if this hasn't crossed the mind of DEVs. I think the main issue here is not so much about forced center or the structure of sub-channels, but rather how to make it as accessible as when you log in PR.

Forced center is just a logical thought to the very least keep the in-game voip casual gamers in, plus all the nice Mumble features without the "hassle".
So what solutions are there to synchronize PR and Mumble automatically? Have no idea if the DEVs already found a way or are testing, but we lose nothing by providing a few thoughts.

Then lets try this out.

TEAM 1
-Platoon 1
--SL RADIO PL 1
- Platoon 2
--SL RADIO PL2
- platoon 3
--SL RADIO PL3

TEAM 2
- Platoon 1
-- SL RADIO PL 1
- Platoon 2
-- SL RADIO PL2
- platoon 3
-- SL RADIO PL3

It is easy to set people to certain squads ingame anyway. Just gotta try it out on a 128 first. See if its doable with masses.

And make Squadleaders and platoon leaders are in right channels, and in mumble.

Also! This system still needs voip to function.

Until a system is inplace to put the SL in different locations at once, or code him to hear certain chatter. Such as the SL position in BF2 at the moment (IE CO VOIP AND Squad VOIP)

We have to use voip.

Really - really nice development :D

I will now have to join PR again this year. I Will love to command more than 100+ players. Commanding 500+ players on the Internet, has been my dream since 1995.

Also, in that regard, how to organise big games, on all levels, - well, its only a matter of knowledge and experience. Napoleon Bonaparte commanded an army of 800.000 men for a long time. This was before the radio and the Internet. Thus 1 guy commanding (in detail often) 800.000 other guys. So of course the PR players on the web, can command squads of 12-20 in size, or platoons of 30-50 in size. Not a problem. Its a challenge for the mind. Nothing else. To command 10 guys or 10.000 guys, is a matter of understanding how to organise the efforts within a unit. Nothing else.

In regard to the technical content, the difficulties of bits, bytes and technical weather, I at least hope the administrators and developers, will try taking one step at the time.

In regard to the players who dislike the change embedded in these new bigger games, the answer is still the same.

Change is the only constant factor.

Awesome developement 8)

Hmmm thinking about the 3 platoons thing, so we gonna split up basically in 2 infantry platoons and an asset/support platoon, or are we gonna implement armor, transport, and, and, and into one infantry-based....uuuhhh..yeah...duh.

After a 200-player event at a normal server looks so empty.
A dream come true, bigger squads more players.
But it is very difficult to coordinate such a bunch of people. it requires a good organization for a good gaming experience. It is a new challange for the community, and bring PR to a higher level. I hope people can get used to it.

This confuses me.
Is not the point of mumble to allow all the grunts or differing units to be able to speak to each other during the match.
If you split everyone up into different channels is this not the same thing as the original Teamspeak setups?

Yeah im thinking more like this actually:

Team 1
Platoon 1 SL Radio
Platoon 2 SL Radio
Platoon 3 SL Radio

That way dealing with 12 guys, and 2 other squads at max. Then the rest of the team is dealt with my Platoon leader.

Everyone else is in team 1 radio

No those are all sub-channels in the actual Team, everyone withing the specific range can hear you. Those are only for force centering (like VOIP) purpose. We have to think about the division tho, as lot of players have already issues finding the right team, not to talk about different subchannels.

lol according to PRspy there's 610 players online playing PR atm

you'd have pretty much the entire population in one server.

this is just crazy

can we not clean this up forums getting full of 128, 200, 512 server post`s. Im sure duplicate threads arnt needed.

May be Wicca and soppa can write a update thread of how its going and where its all going then make it a sticky and keep it all in there.

Are you people happy only once you've crammed the whole PR community into a single server? I except that server will collapse and suck all servers into a singularity that will give birth to a server-black hole.

Seems a bit ridiculous in my opinion. That many players with only 8 man vehicles on maps that seem like they'd get small real quick with so much going on.

It's not enough as long as there's more ground between players than players!
9000 player servers are the minimum!
