Code: Select all
ObjectTemplate.setMinRotation 0/-45/0
ObjectTemplate.setMaxRotation 0/0.01/0
ObjectTemplate.setMaxSpeed 0/10/0
ObjectTemplate.setAcceleration 0/10/0
ObjectTemplate.setInputToPitch PIThrottle
Set the bolded attributes to the bolded values on rtFlap and ltFlap and that should get the right characteristics. (Didn't feel like the change justifies another full d/l yet.)
I'm thinking I shouldn't worry too much about the hover sweeping problem until we get down to the source and solution of the rudder problem (in case the two problems are somehow related), so I'm going to bounce ahead on the work queue. If there's anything else that I need to tweak with the flight code, let me know.
I'll hit the external views first; once those are done to PR standard, I'll explore some alternate weapon loadouts (2 AAM's and 2 Mavericks, 2 AAM's and two rocket pods, 2 AAM's and 2 AIM-120's). This is as much for my development as a coder as it is related to what the harrier needs.
(P.S. The Cobra model ingame (vanilla model IIRC) only has x7 pods, where it's treated as having x19 pods. Does the team need to update the model to match the missiles, or update the ammo count to match the model? Obviously low priority, but as an aside)

the cobra is a Vbf2 asset, so we can't change the pods visually.

Alrighty then;
Question: Are we planning to have drop tanks on the british harrier as well? Or are those open for weapons?

did you try to disable/remove all helicopter engines from the harrier and see if the rudder is still a problem?
if so i might be related to the very bad cols.
you should worry about alternative load outs etc, as this kind of stuff is at the very end to do. just stay with the flight physics for now.
the cobra has a 7x pod modeled, but for balance sake we gave her the bigger 19x pods.

Roger on all. I'll test the engines and see what happens.
EDIT: Taking out the helicopter engines didn't have any positive effect; in fact, when I launched, the plane did some weird yaw-ing slip-and-slide-style. It eventually stabilized when I got up to speed, but yeah...
Also, external views are updated to PR standard.

Great to see ya working on the Harrier, Jafar
Hope it turns out well and that we get to see it running CAS in the future

The British harrier has drop tanks, don't think they are exported yet but it dose have them. Just throw the USMC ones on for now as a place holder as a Harrier hardly ever goes into combat without them.

I tried removing the chopper rudder, and even the front landing gear, ie, anything using the rudder controls and it didn't help. The only thing that stopped it was removing the rudder itself...
Also how could the cols effect the flight physics?

I take it you mean should not worry about it?
But ye, this stuff comes in the very last steps epically when it comes to the possibility of having multiple load outs.

Current harrier. Landing flaps rotate more and more quickly. Stabilizer engines are deleted from code. Somewhat more horizontal movement when pitching/rolling the harrier. External views updated to fit PR aircraft standard.

Updated the GB Harrier to match my latest progress on the US version. (No HUD or drop tanks added, though). I haven't had a chance to test it, so let me know if it's buggered up.

I will try to test this sometime this week.
Anyways, I really appreciate your work for the community!

I thought that the GR7/GR9 harrier (that's the British harrier to you) was out of service so working on it will be pointless although you can still do the AV8 harrier 2

velocity, we are aware of that... The Harrier GR9 is however useable in some scenarios which are set slighty in the past however which is why we are still working on it.

Any updates? I have a plan to use the harrier on a map, will this be a possibility in the near future?

Yes. One way or another, the Harrier will be fully in PR in the future. The only thing that is missing is a map for it right now which is why we are not putting it on the top of the to-do list at the moment.
