Lol I see all these hate comments about the lack of teamwork if you're not with friends, or the lack of teamwork between squads. I have one thing to say. WTF?! I almost never play with people I know, and I usually (85% of the time) have a great time. If you want teamwork b/w the whole team join PRTA or TG and get on mumble.

Thing is, back in the days, you were something else if you were a SL, had more authority... nowadays, every second guy is a SL and as we know, everybody has mind of hi own, resulting in squads buildig FOBs in the middle of nowhere, rushing, doing absolutely nothing and in the end wasting server space. The trick is not to be in a squad with your friends, if you have 3, 4 friends, make them SL different squad, then you can work together!

best comment yet, we used to do this on iGi, completely pwned everyone on public servers (not our own, we always made sure some of us were on the other team if there was no clan over there)
still remember OGT in the early days of Mumble, Gazz, Frosty and me leading a squad each, charging south towards trenches, moving so fast the prone chinese troops waiting for us didn't even get a shot off, a big line of 18 players. Good times

That's very good idea actually, but there's one thing. I don't have any friends capable to doing this, so this is not an option.

I don't think I'm a suitable player for being the commander. No good spoken language, lack of charisma, etc.
LieutenantNessie wrote:Edit: And mumble servers usually have teamwork between the whole team as well
Well which ones? I've been playing on *NwA* for some time - no teamplay (between the whole team). PRTA - same thing but this was really better than NwA. By teamplay I mean you always have someone above you, giving you orders (unless your a commander), not "Let's see, squad 7 is going to the cache from west so we will go from east", that's
"teamplay" not
teamplay actually. It's impossible to get it done without having a commander that is actually commanding, like it is almost every time on every server. Maybe someone (the best of the best commanders) could put up together a training event for commanders and share their knowledge. Because this mod has potential. I hope the upcoming one life event will be successful and bring the the reality of PR to the next level, cause I don't think that some stupid vanilla habits (lonewolfing snipers, lonewolfing cas, lonewolfing everything, shooting every enemy in the sight, going through the open terrain right next to possible enemy location, etc.) will pay off, you'll just die horribly and get kicked out of the game. That's the way I like it, and I hope that a large number of players will like this.

R is dieing. PR has had its years on the game, but as of now it's just rolling downhill. Of course, there are die-hard PR fans that will always play the game, but truth is, the game gets boring after a while. Not much can be added except NEW Factions, Physics, Weapons etc...
Anywho, lets see how great Arma

R is...
Anyone else have the same feelings/opinion? I'm curious.
Join a clan, PR will be boring after time if you are not in practice teamwork/tactics. So you need new challenges.
Like not to die a hole round.

Yes. Playing on a disorganized team is quite frustrating.
In spite of creating my own squad and doing what I can to support the team, sometimes the team is too individualistic to get it together (eg: going to places that have little to no value, allowing their (infantry) squad to become too scattered to be functional, not attacking/defending real objectives, ignoring the rest of the team's needs, only interested in their plan).
I've tried explaining, commanding, supporting, and eventually ignoring teams as such. If the team is incoherent, it's fairly useless.
What that team needs beyond mumble or commander (because they won't listen sometimes) is better teamworking players on that side to offset the guys who don't want/know how to make it happen, pure and simple.
A side note to those who have been dying to try out mortars, FBs, or special kits: Coop Servers will give you that opportunity at no expense to the team. It's fun and you can hone your skills all that's necessary.

And there's also one more thing that I hate: pr0 uber 1337 clan squads which don't even mind teamplaying because they are uber 1337.

Join the Tournament. I know I will. There are limits to how much pubbing one can do and playing with people that often know what they are doing will be a breath of fresh air.
Very unlikely that PR:ARMA2 will replace BF2

R anytime soon, if ever. It's not the same experience and isn't nearly as polished as BF2

I play 6-8 hours everyday and lead squads and run the mumble program. I have read the Public announcements and its fine its your game but there was never any idea about it happening to the public and the BAM its no longer available for medics to heal themselves and we got -2 days before its clarified. That was very poor to not have tested it to which anyone could have said, He guys wait before you release the patch I CANT HEAL MY SELF....
How did not one single tester pickup on something that is used at least 10X and hour?

what people are going for on BF2 PR and Arma 2 PR are different things, polished is not a problem with either games as both are a continuing improvement (Kaizen) they will never be polished as long as theres a community to say "i want this".
i see what you mean but the graphics and wow factors are what attract people to Arma 2 which is a newer game, and the idea is not to have more players on Arma 2 PR and replace BF2 PR as both mods are running alongside each other
i suggest you buy Arma 2 Comedian if you havent already, just for something different?
you'll enjoy it mate I promise

?30 on steam for all games of Arma

xambone READ THE PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT ON THAT ISSUE
if we wanted to put it back how it was, we don't actually know why it happens - self healing was a bug in the first place.
USE YOUR FIELD DRESSINGS
Read the announcement and see we're increasing field dressings for medics, its NOT a game breaking issue.
You Can self heal still, you just have an added ammo limitation
so adapt, its really not that different, its a molehill - NOT a mountain
if your gonna complain, at least get your information straight

WRONG
coupled with
When we overhauled the medic system I believe in 0.9, it was always intended for the medic to not be able to self heal. This is why they have field dressings. However, upon release of that version, medics could still self heal, so we didn't really see any impact of this change.
So, since this "bug" is actually fixing a previous issue that was never intended, we have decided to keep this in PR. Medics will no longer be able to self heal using a medic bag.
So can you please now change the record, relating to the thread title, I'm tired of this ****

Honestly, I spend multiple hours on this game every-day. I have noticed that there are servers where people that dont want to use team work will join and servers that have team players. Also I think why some people get so bored is because most servers plays the same maps over and over and over... All the servers play the same maps over and over.. For Example its like they play, Muttrah City, Kokan, Ramiel, and maybe Dragon Fly..
They play these maps in a loop and dont play any other maps and these maps are like on every server. I can see why people get bored cause every server almost is playing the same maps over and over. There isnt a map variety in the servers. I like PR and still enjoy it. Teamwork makes this game fun, no teamwork usually means no fun.
So if you want to still have fun, make a teamwork squad and get on some of the few servers that has a variety or a server where you can vote for your map.

PR is still a great game and always will be a great game full of fun.

TBH I'd rather spend that money on BF3 for the
wow factor and have PR for the teamwork but each to their own taste.
PS: I have tried ARMA2 and OA but I am not very fond of it. My hardware seems to agree with me.

There is constructive criticism, and then there is pointless bitching.
This is the latter of the two.
I am tired of 107 degree heat. I am tired of running a department because the tribble with the VP title is at best a technophobic obstructionist. I am tired of being tired because I play PR until zero dark stupid.
That is bitching. And it's equally pointless as this thread, although this thread does serve to actively stir up emotional responses, so it's passed worthless into detrimental.
Now, had I suggested a plan for a solar shield, turning off the lights in Al Gore's mansion, that would be constructive. If I was asking for help on getting the ventriloquist dummy with the memory span of a goldfish deported to Ulaanbaatar, that would be constructive. If I was asking for someone to come over and kick my *** around 0100 because PR turns me into an unsupervised 12 year old with the keys to the liquor cabinet as far as sleep scheduling goes, that might be constructive or at least cathartic for that individual.
What you did was shit on the game, which is a great way to thank the team that continues to spend their leisure time supporting and developing it for free by the way, and then asked for others to dogpile.
What is the point? Will you feel better with company for your misery? Are you hoping to garner enough support to lead a peasant uprising? You could have your manifesto include raiding EA HQ and forcing them to release the source code to the BF2 engine, THEN PR can be everything you want it to be!
+1 vote for lock.

Hmm, well I had a rant last night on the NWA server and owe an apology for that, sorry guys. I was frustrated because I had a very effective and obedient squad under my command and despite overwatchign the only known cache we only had one enemy squad come and attack it. In 45mins that was essentially our only fun. The cache was then destroyed by a Kiowa diving in vertically from Max Altitude leading to my whinge on global chat and them my rage quit.. really I felt i'd let my guys down, who had patiently waited to cover the cache from an actual atack.
I play about 3-4 hours a night every other day, and almost always squad lead in public servers. Recently i've been not really enjoying the game because of players in the squad generally not communicating, which as an SL makes getting anything done about as easy as knitting fog.
When we do get it together, all too often because we are an infantry squad we are pretty insignificant on the battlefield.
I realise this sounds how it should be, but when I say insignificant I mean powerless. Even on the good servers the assets are generally not co-ordinated with the Infantry (and the Tanks, CAS and APC's are the ones that get things done), and as well as this if you get a FOB up with the full amount of defensive things (TOW, AA, HMG's) all you become is a big target for enemy CAS, or enemy HAT snipers dropped off by a helicopter.
I think this is why there is a transition of experienced players from being an Inf SL to basically always manning a tank or flying CAS. You get more kills, you only have one other guy to co-ordinate with (your gunner), you are very mobile, and it gives you more authority within the team structure (i.e. people will listen when you ask them to move somewhere, etc).
Another thing that really jades the game for me is that enemy transport helicopters are largely invulnerable to ground fire, and thus insert ninja squads at will, with a crate. These squads can then HAT snipe you all day long. It's rare that a helicopter actually dies upon inserting any squad, usually it will take a hit and then be perfectly able to RTB. On Ramiel you see BlackHawks lazily hovering around trying to spot caches or RPG's. If you shoot at one, you can almost guarantee he will lazily come back to see what shot at him. And you won't kill him that time either.
Generally at the mo for me it feels all cobbled together, even on a good team. Not much synchronisation. Which in turn leads to frustration because you can find that despite good comms half the team is in fact still not really a part of the team, too many random elements doing 'wtf' things with assets, etc.
I have played a lot of AAS after the new release and generally find that the maps are so large that it's easy to make a FOB in the middle of nowhere and then just trudge accross the map to the enemy cap zone without running into them. We had a great round on the wooded map with Russia vs Militants, but even then it was just an enormous blob of Bluefor running accross the map to the various caches. I think we traversed the map about 5 times on foot, although it was a huge success and fun to do.

After reading this thread I feel like I have to apologize to the Devs just because they have to read threads like this and wade through the sh*t some people give them.

You can't solve a problem you aren't aware of [because nobody expressed their views on it] Bozo.. If you want a case study then look at the thread on RPG's - they are being changed back to what they were in the last version. Wouldn't have happened had people not expressed their feelings.
None of that was 'constructive criticism', but any criticism is feedback, and feedback can be constructive.
Let the Dev's fight their own war, if you have nothing to say on the actual Thread Topic then it's plain whiteknighting and not constructive either.
