Differences between .97 Medic and ~.9 Medic
.97:
Faster healing
Up to 4 Stop-Bleed-Heals (Or 3 Full Heals) (without rearming off dead enemy bags) for yourself
Ability to look around while you heal yourself
Essentially covering yourself in bandages makes you A-OK from a gunshot wound.
~.9:
Slower healing
Infinite full-heals for yourself
Inability to look around while you heal, making you extremely vulnerable
I understand the part where you say that oh, well, now the medic won't heal himself and he'll get a buddy to heal him. Seems legit, yeah?
Except for the part that the medic can just heal himself anyway. o_o
Also, medic eats up ammo crates.

in 0.97 you can reload from 1 ammobag: 11field dressings for medic + the ammobag for the rifleman. with a little coordination you get infinite healing power w/o the need for ammo/supply cratesDev1200 wrote:Also, medic eats up ammo crates.

To clarify, I was not advocating a return to Medics having the infinate healing ability of self-healing via the Medic bag - I was wanting to go back to the 'vulnerable medics' system in .96 where someone had to take the medic-kit and heal you.
I had some great rounds with that, instead of just feeling like the squad gimp the medic kit would be passed around, and squad mates would actually cover you whilst you were being patched up.
And with 'only' 6 patches it was important to be resupplied and also somewhat prevented the RamboMedic syndrome.
And enemy Squads were easier to kill, it affected them when their medic was shot.

I'm glad you had a good experience with it, but most of the community didn't.Mikemonster wrote:I had some great rounds with that, instead of just feeling like the squad gimp the medic kit would be passed around, and squad mates would actually cover you whilst you were being patched up.
I for one had a lot of stupid engagements where it was totally idiotic to kit-switch in the middle of a CQB firefight.

Whereas getting shot and being totally ok in a firefight because you MediBag yourself to full health in 15seconds isn't totally idiotic?
Honestly, a medic being shot was a bad thing when they couldn't self heal.. And it actually meant that the squad wasn't fully operational for a time and lost the advantage. Surely that's how it should be?!
If your Squad can't hold the area for you to swap kits then something is wrong and self-healing/dropping infinity patches is hiding the problem.
