If anything the insurgents new main/such is terrible. The old US main was better imo but could have been placed better in a more defendable spot or had better defenses for that matter.
The random spawn **** sucks, i'd prefer a static spawn, the VCP being controlled by US on the old version was a lot funner to defend/gave the US a fighting chance.

What it should've been is the current US main, situated on a hill, but not in the centre of the map. Just south of Camp Murphy around M11-M12; thus keeping the realistic setting but featuring a US op in the NW of the valley, not on all sides.

Feedback:
- make the map bigger
- use the current base as an outpost
- give the Blufor a runway with a real main base
- add Apache and Blackhawk
- give the insurgent one or two quadguns
- make the new terrain more open fields like lashkar...
- mybe add in some cavespawns for the taliban, since the apache would destoy all hideouts in seconds
i accually really like this map and the hopping, I looks very good like that.

and you can finally climb mountains if you have the time.

Basically, what you just suggested was they make a new map. If you actually read the thread, you will realize how much work doing any of the things you suggested would be, for very little actual gain.

A new map with the same concept (big hills and valley in afghanistan) would work cool with an Apache and maybe a BlackHawk

I agree korengal is hard. but if you have atleast 3-4 infantry squads attacking at the same time it is possible to win

Just played Korengal Valley a few days ago, the Blufor successfully destroyed all the caches. It was a fun game but also a tough one.

Despite all the negativity towards the map displayed in this thread, no one can deny that it is one of the more realistic maps in the entire mod.

Korengal is a very tough map indeed. But winning as bluefor is still possible, requires only a bit more teamwork.

Nothing is more fun on this map as being trapped in the main shooting at the mountains hoping that you will kill something.

The main message I'm getting out of this thread is that the map is a pretty accurate representation of Korengal, based on the books, movies and reports on it I've read.

I just avoid this map entirely if i'm US, rounds end up usually being absolutely horrendous as US after giving it a chance time and time again im just done until improvements are made. Flame me if you want but its not just "you suck or your team sucks" its basically every round i've played of the map for 3 years or so.

The best thing you can do is just having fun in this map, the map is so hard that I rather have fun firefights than doing rush after rush on the cache. At the beginning of the round, make sure you get a logistic truck and rush out of the spawn and build 2 sneaky FOBs, or at least covered by trees or bushes. And then start moving around. And when moving out of the base with a vehicle after 10 minutes, let only the driver and the gunner in the vehicle and let the rest walk in front of the vehicle checking for IEDs and enemies. It will take time but it will reward in the end.

I LOVE Korengal. Unfortunately, I have to admit it is not because of the 'PR spirit' that it would inspire. It is the ultimate ninja run map. Grab an Ak-74 rifleman kit as soon as you can. Enemies are less interested in your fire, and you get RKG grenades for caches. If you are patient, and very careful, getting into a cache compound is not terribly difficult; avoid firefights at all costs. Korengal tends to cause rather loose defenses at caches, insurgents usually patrol the hills and passes in the area rather than camping doorways. Many people complain about the terrain, and indeed it is the greatest enemy on that battlefield. Try sprinting rather than jumping in some areas. Often mid-air turns must be made to switch-back your way up a mountain.
Also, I see blufor win Korengal all the time. There is one particular cache though, that is just a little too far gone. It spawns in a cave, immediately west of US main. To get to the cache room, blufor must in fact swim down a narrow corridor, and that is once they have even managed to enter the cave. It is also too deep to allow C4 mining, although I find such nefarious methods appalling.

Korengal... awesome map it's been ages since i saw it in rotation...the only insurgent map that favor the insurgents most of blufor fancy toys are useless... don't mind having a little bird here ... just the c4 bug could be bad.
The only thing I hate is the buggy terrain ahaha getting trapped in a triangular role sucks .

I guess a few mountain tracks would be the solution to the bad terrains. And a remote base from where an attack helicopter can take off, but it's a dream and they don't always come reality.

Korengal is not hard to play, i think it is because people on pr are really afraid of close combat that why you need to be agressive to win a round on this map.

Truth! Be aggressive, use all you have to kill the enemy. HATs, grenadier, everything! I often see people using only their rifles to engage the enemy while they have way more instruments to kill ze enemy.

C4 ninja with a 2 man squad gets you far...
See all these people with 6 man squads getting noticed and fired upon from 200m away because they're not stealthy enough.
